healing takes a while, but if they are also infected or look reddenned, try melafix.

and get real strong covers!

I'll suggest melafix as well. I wasn't able to do a controlled study but, after treating for fin rot with stronger meds I dosed melafix for a week....also a good diet will help with the healing process.

I second the covers ! Anything as large as an arowana is going to need something it can't bust out of.

Melafix and water changes are the best for the fish now.

I agree, Melafix is the best solution. I've never had to try it but heard it works great. My Arowana has never jumped out so it has perfect fins.

well - the fins aren't red or infected and never were, so at least that's good! and i've fixed the lid so she can't jump out so hopefully i won't have to worry about her anymore! i wouldn't think that melafix would be any benefit if the fins aren't infected, would it? i've been doing weekly 10 - 15% water changes to keep the water clean, and feeding a little bit of everything to keep some variety in her diet - guess i just have to wait it out! thanks everyone

After the round of treatment that I used, the tetras fins werent infected, and hadn't been too badly damaged, but adding the melafix did seem to help. Somewhere I remember reading a side by side study of damage done to pond goldfish. One was treated with melafix, one without. The one that was treated with melafix showed improved healing....unfortunatly I don't have a link to it .
