urgent, fish dying | |
cory_obsessed Fingerling Posts: 19 Kudos: 3 Votes: 2 Registered: 02-Apr-2006 | The poor fish is dying. She only swims for a few seconds before falling back to the gravel. Just did a water change. Her armour(you know, like what cories have for scales?) is pineconing, and if I hadn't checked, I would think I had a dead fish in my aquarium... Well, I'll see if she's alive tomorrow Melafix is for fishies, not for people. Trust me, I know from personal experience. |

Perhaps youre unlucky in that the problem was so severe that proper antibiotic was necessary from the outset. Melafix isnt always strong enough, it doesnt penetrate into the fishs' system deeply enough, and tetracycline has been in use so long (since the 60's)that many bacteria are becoming immune. I think you did well to get the fish to last this long , you might find enrofloaxin (baytril) better for this kind of thing. |
