My guppy has white, stringy poo. It's really nasty and it just doesn't look right. One of my other guppies got this before she grew some sort of tumor on her back and now a different female is having the poo problems. It's a 10 gallon with 4 guppies and 3 zebra loaches who are just in there to grow a little bit before I get them into my 55. Does anyone know what this is, and more importantly, how to get rid of it. I'm concerned that whatever it is will spread to my zebras. Thanks!
Jen

White stingy poo is usually a sign of internal parasites, the only med I no in the US for internal parasites is one called clout.

I'm no expert but I had angelfish with internal parasites and used Jungles Parasite Guard with super results. You can get it at Walmart. It contains several medications that deworm your fish on the inside and out. It says on the box you don't have to raise the temp but I raised mine to 88 degrees. Remove all carbon from your filter during treatment. Good luck!

as I understand it, white stringy poo can also be a sign of an internal bacterial medication. If you suspect internal parasites, use a product called prazi-pro. It is gentle on your fish, and doesn't harm your biofilter. As for an internal bacterial infection, you want medicated food like jungle's "pepso food", or make your own using tetracycline, flake, and Knox gelatine, mixed with yummies like brine shrimp and bloodworm.

My guppy died last night...I hope this isn't a sign of what is to happen to the other fish. I got some internal/external parasite tablets and put them in last night, but it didn't help her. Hopefully those will help the other fish in there.

Oh no, I just got some new fish and I noticed one of them had poo that first came out looking like white cobwebs then ended up normal looking. Is this the same thing?

As long as it is normal looking again, sounds or right to me.
