i have 3 female mollies that are showing really small white dots on the tail. is this n.e thing to worry about?

If they look like small grains of salt then it's most likely ich. There are many medications out there to treat ich, if there are any bottom feeders in the tank look for rid ich plus as it was specially formulated to treat tanks with more sensitive fish. You need to treat the whole tank and treat quickly.

Follow the directions for treating exactly. Do not stop treatement simply because the dots "went away". Raising the temp of the tank a few degress is likely to help speed up the life cycle making it easier to eliminate.

Listen to Babel, she knows what she's saying...head on over to your lfs and get some ich meds, just make sure you get the ones that are safe for the bottom feeders, you don't want them to die from being treated to save them. I wouldn't do the salt dip, simply because of it being such a drastic means, and there are so many other ways of handling illness these days......but that's just me, Heidi
