ok.this tank has been up and going for about 4 weeks and i have
2.bala sharks
7.neon tetras
1.crab
checked my tank today and noticed the small white spots on the sharks.one of them has it pretty good?what should i do,is this somthing to worry about?the water temp is between 74 and 78..help?

Hi, to help out what is the size of your tank water parameters etc etc. You most likely have ich a common fw disease. Take a trip down to the lfs and pic up some medication. Take the carbon out of the filter before you medicate. And be ready for those balas to eat your neons and your crab as they get big and will eat both of those if they are too small

ok i have a 55 gal fresh water tank.now you stated that i should remove the carbon filters in the hob filter?.ill take the water down to the lfs and have it tested.im new to this and still learning thanks

Yes, the carbon will deactivate if you can call it that. the medication will be uneffective if the carbons in. I would treat for about 5days if it doesnt clear up then mabe more and u may want to up the temperature .

A note* Your tank temp should be at a stable temp.

This is probably why your fish got ich in the first place.

Try to get a better heater to keep the temp the same.
