The youngest daughter will be turning 6 and I don't know what to get her She asked for a bike helmet, that's fine, but I need some other ideas.

She loves Hello Kitty but is otherwise not
a girly-girl mom!!!
She doesn't play house or with dolls, hates Barbie...she'd rather ride her bike, play Playstation or Gameboy, watch Pokemon, wrestle with her brothers. She does like to color.

I really don't want to get her clothes, and I'm not looking for big, expensive ideas.

Any suggestions would really be appreciated

What about a scooter... you can get them for 35 or 40 bucks for the smaller kids.

I just bought my kids a bubble gun and it definately has the coolness factor. Not expensive at all and keeps them running around. still kicking this around, not sure yet but I'll come back to this

Arts and crafts stuff should go over well. I've seen that a lot of young girls like painting and drawing, and I take it that yours does as well. Perhaps a watercolor paint set?

Before I started getting bandaids for my birthday .....

*thinks*

Well I didnt really get much of anything for my birthdays coloring books, maybe I think wow I honestly cant really remmeber but I have a feeling it was craft kit things.
You guys just moved right does she have any interest in gardening? Maybe a small window box kit I seem to remember seeing ones that come with little sets of gloves trowels and digging forks, and with summer break coming up it might be something to do during the summer. Or what about outdoor games? Klutz press puts out a lot of those types of game/book combos (Kids Shennigans was one our grandpartns got for us that was absolutly great!)
Another game for playstation or GB maybe? Thats what I had to rely on for my younger sisters for a few years ....there's lots of used game places in the area you can find some of the older ones for cheaper.

For my family the birthday was more just a chance to have cake and ice cream, one of my sisters started a tradition of having a treasure hunt to find all the presents that type of thing :%).

Install PhotoShop on your PC and let her rip with that. She'll have endless fun transplanting people's heads onto small furry animals with it

Believe me, I've seen kids once they get their hands on PhotoShop and work out what they can do with it. Your photos will never be the same again

You said she likes to color, so what about letting her [link=create her own story book]http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0963679600/qid=/sr=/ref=cm_lm_asin/104-9324604-9283105?v=glance" style="COLOR: #FFFFFF[/link]? Scroll down, there's a description of the kit.

[link=Cranium kids' games]http://store.cranium.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_9" style="COLOR: #FFFFFF[/link] are supposed to be fun, and would create some family time. I love regular Cranium.

For Christmas Jorge and I got his nephew a couple packs of Play-Doh and a couple [link=tools]http://www.hasbro.com/pl/page.browse/pg.1//style.pictures/sort.display_priority,displayname/dn/playdoh/default.cfm" style="COLOR: #FFFFFF[/link] to go with it. Maybe she's beyond that though? Instead how about some colored modeling clay, like [link=Scupley]http://www.sculpey.com/Products/products_poly_sculpeyIII.htm" style="COLOR: #FFFFFF[/link] and the like? Crayola also makes [link=Model Magic]http://www.crayolastore.com/product_list.asp?SKW=MODELMODEL" style="COLOR: #FFFFFF[/link] that you scuplt, let dry, then color with markers.

Just a few ideas. Hope it helped.

I Spy books, my kids love them. I got the youngest two for X-mas, and the 18 year old and 17 year old spent days looking for things.

What about for when they are stuck inside (cold, rainy), any board games she might not mind? My son loves the worst case scenario game. Have to answer questions about man eating crocodiles, quicksand, flying planes, etc. On a positive note they learn about real life dangerous situations and how to better handle it in a cool game.
