As most of you know, I live in New York, which gives me great access to the beatiful aquarium in Riverhead, Atlantis Marine World.

AMW currently has the biggest reef tank in the United States, with the main display being 20,000 gallons. The owner of this tank, and curator of the aquarium itself, happens to be the president of my reef club. Needless to say, we're very friendly.

My high school oceanography class took a field trip there Friday, and I figure I'll share some pictures.

I've spent so much time at this place...some of you may remember that my aunt had her wedding here. Plus, my club, LIRA hosts NERAC (North East Reef Aquarium Conference) here, and countless other events. If you're in the area, you gotta go. I learn something new each time.

Now for the pictures! Excuse my photography skills.

Sheesh, those pics with all the multicolored fish just look unreal. Nice critters, but I think you spend too much time over there. You're going to fall into a tank and not want to come out.

Excellent pics Liana...one of these days I might make it over to visit AMW. I highly doubt it, but one can dream.

Very Nice!! Looks like a cartoon.

I think I want to attempt a reef tank one day. I don't know anything about it though so it won't be for a looong time.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Nate you should make the visit, it's worth it. Come to NERAC! The benefits are superfluous. Bring Kip, Del, Cris, the whole crew.

Robyn, I doubt Tim would let you. But I'd be more than willing to help you learn enough to get started. In fact, it'd be my pleasure. And by the time your tank is up and running, I'm sure I'd have some frags for you to start out with as well.
