Check this out. I wouldn't want to find Barry in hubby's marine tank

Now that is a big worm to put any hook to go fishing.

Thats either a Eunice worm or a Bobbit worm. They actually make quite interesting pets. Id guess its more likely to be a bobbit worm with all those tenticles though. Yes, they do get very big and eat corals and fish, but are not uncommon on liverock. Ive removed one abot 9 inches long from my tank before now.

far out,the weird things that come with live rock.
i think my flowerhorn has finally met his match.
joking aside, mez how the hek did you get it out with out being stung?
would barry be full grown,or does he have more growing to do.
im thinking that if barry hit 4 feet in a tank,i hate to think how big these fellas could get in the ocean

eeeh gads HOKESE! Like I need anything else to scare the wetsuit pants off of me.

See boys and girls, this is why freshwater lake diving is so much safer. *imagines barry managing to swim into her hair and get tangled up until she's back on the boat and it's slithering down the neck of her wetsuit*

*shudder*

^_^

Mez, you're braver than me. After I read:-

"We also discovered that he is covered with thousands of bristles which are capable of inflicting a sting resulting in permanent numbness."

I knew if Barry was in hubby's tank, the tank would never get cleaned - even though Barry does share the same name as hubby

lol, barry in the wetsuiti can just see you doing dance moves around the boat, kicking your legs in the air and waving yourarms around, screaming i have a barry in my wetsuit.
keeping one of these guys as pets, well that would be intereSTING.
it would be pretty cool to watch him chomp up some food,im thinking he must have quite a bite too,it says he bit threw a 20lb fishing line, then smashed up the traps they set for him, then he eats all the bait food.plus the hooks!
thats 1 tuff worm.

TW, the hairs are just like that of a bristleworm, which i can promise any marine keeper that has been keeping reefs for more than a few years will have been stung by. Hurts like a bitch at first, but then just itches.
Bobbits dont actually sting. They use their huge jaws, and usually bury in sand or tunnels in rocks..
edit: here's a good youtube vid...

A few years, Mez? I don't think it takes that long to get stuck.
