Murphy's Law as it pertains to breeding fish:
Those you are trying to breed wont whereas those you are not trying to will.
This realy struck true today at work. While cleaning out the filters for one of our tilapia farm tanks we came across about 150 baby tilapia. This is even more amazing when considering all the tilapia are supposed to be male. Oops!

yup, that applies to me all the time. I set up 2 tanks for breeding angels, and of course none bred.... but little did I know that my two parrotfish paired off in my showtank and were breeding like crazy! I think the reason behind that is when we try to breed fish, we are constantly making sure the water is perfect, and doing water changes every day, and constantly watching, where the ones we arent trying to breed dont have us in their face constantly, and get to adjust to the tank and breed like they would do in the wild. If you think about it, the water in the wild isnt perfect, so maybe constant water chages and stuff hurt the pair more than help them.

So true. It had been a dream of mine for years to have my fish breed. Just when I pretty much gave up that dream and got 2 supposedly male Bolivian Rams, boom - they spawned in less than a week! :%)

We have to be persistent, I suppose . . .

A different thing I want to mention:
When you are finally ready to sell your fry and take them to the LFS, the LFS is having a sale on them, which means you get paid based off that price instead of the normal one.
