After all, they were setting out simply to ameliorate this disease, yet ended up with what looks very much like a complete cure. But then I grew up at the tail end of the earnest optimisms about the wonders of science that peaked in the late 1950s and carried on into the early 60's. Glad to see Louis Pasteur's fine tradition is being carried on. ![]() |

It's all over the news here. It looks like they caught it early though so hopefully she'll have a complete recovery. |

Then, he set up in the house repairs business, and was promptly struck by liver cancer (some people have atrocious luck in this life - sigh). This was caught fairly early, but he still needed extensive invasive surgery (200 stitches to close up the incision - yeep) and then secondary me If this means the start of much more effective and cheaper treatments, I for one will rejoice. I've seen this guy's operation scars while he's been working, and believe me, it's something neither he not I wouldn't wish on anyone (assorted genocidal dictators excepted) ... ![]() |
