OK You know how you have the middle wheel/button. And when you push that button it comes up with another type of pointer and if you move your mouse up and down the screen scrolls.

How do you stop this from happening??? Like turn that button off or stop it from scrolling? I have looked in the mouse setup in the system part of windows 98 and also the control panel part as well and I can't find it.

Can this be turned off???

You could just not press the wheel...(not trying to be mean, just seems like the easiest solution to me)...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

If you're using Windows 98, wheel-buttoned mice should need their own specific driver software. And the driver software should add extra details to the Control Panel popup that appears when you opt to alter mouse parameters.

However, if you're using a wheel-buttoned mouse without extra drivers (is it the Microsoft one perchance, only Windows 98 contains the drivers for that as standard), another possible solution is this: hunt down a piece of software called Tweak UI on the net. This gives enhanced control over ALL aspects of the Windows operating system, not just mice. And it may pick up on your wheel-buttoned mouse and give you the control feature you want.

be careful with Tweak UI unless you are confident about doing windows reinstalls, I know of some people, esp. those with big-name computers (HP, Dell, etc) who lost windows through conflicts with Tweak.

Assuming you have the right mouse drivers installed, you should be able to disable it from the mouse driver set up by going to mouse in the control panel.
If you have no drivers, it's worth getting the correct drivers.
