Well, you can try to get some rippers from download.com or get them from other sites. Should be ok...but if the quality of the CD is bad then you may not be able to copy it.

Try a newer drive, definately a tower, not a laptop IMO.

what error?

how are you doing it? Just using windows, or anoher way? You should try using a specialist prog. Alcohol 120% will rip an image of the disk, and will read VCD's with bad sectors, then you can mount the image on a virtual drive again via alcohol, and then remove the files.

It is possible the error is unrecoverable anyway, optical media is notoriously unreliable.

I was trying to just copy all the files onto the computer so I could burn them later or even put them all together and put them onto a DVD instead.
'
What program would I use then???

you really need to tell us the error!

It isnt terribly helpful just knowing there is an "error" without a detailed description of what you were doing at the time.

THink of it like water perameters - we need to know
what the error message was
what you were trying to do with which program (win explorer or others)
ow far it progressed before the error appeared,

etc.

OK then thanks.

I have downloaded a ripper to change it from a MPEG file to a VOB file. So going to give that a go.
