The mind reels -- although anyone who's ever read about stonefish and their horrifically powerful venom will see the advantage for dolphins using sponges to protect their snouts from them. What I want to know is: what kind of dolphin Leonardo da Vinci came up with this idea in the first place?

This reminds me of the simpsons episode "Night of the Dolphins" where lisa rescues a dolphin, but it turns out to be the leader of all dolphins and they then take over land and kick all the humans off into the sea in an unparalleled bloodbath...

today, stonefish, tomorrow... the world!!

That is no large surprise to me.
I have well known for a very long
time that Dolphins may possibly be
the worlds smartest creature (including
humans).
They have one of the largest brain to body
ratios in the animal world (exceeding our own
large human brains), have a language every bit
as complex as human language, and have higher brain
functions we do not possess and that scientists
have been unable to pinpoint. They just know that
even humans neurons dont fire in those ways.
They also are the only non-primate mammal that engages
in sexual intercourse for more reasons than reproduction.

And besides, as the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy points out, "it has been widely known in the universe that Dolphins, being the universe's 2nd most intelligent creature, have known of the worlds impending doom for some time, and left with only this message" "So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish"
