Intel formally introduced "Core Duo" and "V//V" technology at the CES in las vegas this weekend!

[link=You can check out the video here]http://ces2006.edgesuite.net/ces2006.asx" style="COLOR: #FFFF00[/link] Be warned, this video is about an hour and a half long.

Core Duo, you say? Basically, this is a technology that has made dual core processors in laptops possible. Companies like dEll and Asus have already put out notebooks with the new processors and can be purchased today. This kicks Centrino Technology up a notch increasing wireless capability, boosting battery life to up to 5 hours, and increases performance when using mulitple applications. The cool thing about using less power is these processors produce less heat, increasing longevity.

VIIV you say? Basicially, it's a shuttle PC that you can use to broadcast a wide variety of web-based videos and content to any TV in your home, incluing on-demand features and full length movies. You can also play games through it and listen to music and share photos. Pretty neat, but i personally could care less about this crap. I'm more interested in the processor technology

Speaking of, intel is preparing to ship it's new 65 nanometer design processors sometime in Q1 2006. Apparently they're working out bugs found in engineering samples.

Technology :%)

i take it y'alls aren't ready?

Yea super, there are dual-core processors out now (HA!! and people thought i was nuts when i had a dual processor motherboard!!) that can help with multiple apps. A lot of new programs and games are beind designed to pump seperate threads to each core so they get processed faster and more efficiently.

Special note : Adobe PhotoShop users!

Adobe PhotoShop has had multiprocessor support more or less from the start. If you acquire one of these new dual-core CPUs in your next PC, and run PhotoShop on it, then PhotoShop should fly.
