I would be careful it dosn't bite you, just clean the wound up that's about all you can do, is the scratch deep.

if it was a cat that got it, you can just make it comfortable. Cat saliva is just the pits. Unless you hit it with antibiotics, you don't have much hope

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

I agree... Unfortunately rodents that are injured bad enough so that you can catch them most likly don't have much of a chance of surviving.

As a kid I would always try to rehabilitate animals my cats injured. Usually, the reptiles and amphibians would recover if they were not too badly injured, while the warm-blooded birds and mammals always seemed to die of even minor injuries.

I figured this was because the ambient temperatures inside their bodies caused the bacteria to multiply faster than the animal's immune system could fight them off. While with the cold-blooded animals, their lower body temperatures slowed the microorganism's growth enough so that the animal could recover.

I guess you just sort of have to wait and see what happens. Provide the animal with lots of water and offer some tasty food such as fruit. If it eats, that's a good sign. Let us know how it goes.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
