Step 1 : Position standard can opener on can, ready to open, but do not apply pressure to the handles at this point. Step 2 : Cover with cloth. Step 3 : Apply pressure to can opener handles to pierce a hole. This should let air into the can. Repeat steps 1 to 3 above to piece 4 holes at 90° offsets to each other. Once this is done, you should be able to open the can safely without needing the cloth in place. Enjoy! ![]() |

Sounds very exciting. the opeing night could be a bit of a dissapointment if the thing doesn't pop/wheeze/sigh or pffft even a little. Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 ![]() ![]() | I'm so sorry but all I have been able to do is laugh while reading this... First I'm not sure I would want to eat anything from a can that might explode under normal circumstances. Second the name is giving me fits (I really need to grow up and mature one of these days, I know ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Third, Tanker your post makes sense, which leads me to Cali that sounds reasonable way to open it, guess we won't be using an electric can opener today now, will we? Fourth, I usually don't heat things in a can unless I'm camping and even then I open the can, so we're back to the opening the can with the towel over it bit ![]() Fifth, I don't normally put me ![]() ![]() Sixth, as far as what it tastes like, it sounds like a bread pudding to me ![]() So why exactly did your sister buy this? tanker![]() Hobbyist Posts: 99 Kudos: 113 Votes: 4 Registered: 04-May-2005 ![]() ![]() | At one time there were alot of these warnings on vaccuum sealed containers. The warning was there because of the pressure difference when opening a sealed container. Due to the differnet pressures involved you can actually get explosive compression, which is the ambient air entering the can and basically blowing the contents out into your lap. Some soda companies still place similar warnings on their containers. |

Either that or the can is sealed so tightly that the rush of the air going into the can when you open it creates a rip in time and space, thereby engulfing the entire state of california. If that's the case, open a whole bunch. |

Spotted ![]() As far as I know it is a vey old English Recipe It could have got it name (spots) from the sultanas. Here is a recipe I found using GOOGLE Categories: British Dessert European Yield: 6 Servings 8 oz Self-raising flour 1 pn Of salt 4 oz Margarine 2 oz Castor sugar (Superfine) 4 oz To 6 oz sultanas (Big -raisins) 6 tb Water 1) Have ready a sheet of foil or a double thickness of greaseproof paper brushed with melted margarine. 2) Make the pudding crust: Sieve the flour and the salt. Rub in the margarine. Add the sugar and sultanas. Mix in the water to make a soft dough. 3) Turn out onto a floured board and form into a roll. 4) Wrap loosely but securely in the greaseproof paper or foil. Tie or seal the ends. 5) Place in the steamer and cover tightly. Steam for 1.1/2 to 2 hours. 6) Serve with hot custard sauce or sprinkle with castor sugar. Variation: At stage 3: Put the mixture in a medium-sized (1.1/2 pint) pudding basin with a round of greaseproof paper in the bottom and brush all round inside with melted margarine. Smooth the top. Cover with foil, or double greaseproof paper brushed underneath with melted margarine and steam for 1.1/2 to 2 hours. Serve with hot Custard sauce or sprinkle with castor sugar. Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
