I am a new member to the site but have been reading the posts for a while. Just thought I would introduce myself and my setup.

I currently have a 46 gallon bow front tank with 2 pictus cats, 2 sun cats, and 6 Platy. My tank is a fairly new setup as I am new to all this fishy stuff. Anyway I hope to learn a lot form you guys and in the future be able to contribute some to.

Welcome to the fun world of FP!

You'll find plenty of sources of fascination and amusement here, and a wealth of information. Look out for the old hands and the experienced keepers here, people such as Cup_of_Lifenoodles, Cory_Addict, Toirtis, AcidRain and about a dozen others whose names temporarily escape me!

Among our specialists are the aforementioned Toirtis (who researches Bichirs professionally) and Jason_R_S (one of our Cichlid experts). You'll find also assorted specialists in Discus (though if you're a newcomer, be advised that Discus keeping is one of those strange religions you're admitted to after several years' indenture ), Puffer Fishes, Killies and other assorted delights. We also have quite a few Catfish specialists here (Cup_of_Lifenoodles above is one of your one-stop sources for L-number Plec info, and Cory_Addict's name should give her game away ) so you won't be stuck for advice regardless of what you keep, unless of course you happen to have a fully grown Paddlefish in a giant swimming pool

As well as the forums, take time out to gaze at the Profiles (see drop down menu at head of page) and the Articles (which I'm shamelessly plugging here because a few of them are mine ).

Oh, and keep a link to the calculators section handy too - so that when you need to do temperature conversions or check your tank capacity, it's just a mouse click or two away ...

I'd also keep a direct link to The Hospital forum handy too, after all, you never know when you'll have a sick fish to treat ... and we've all been there and done that before you, so you'll have plenty of assistance should your fishes ever need the piscine Red Cross ...

Finally, there's chat. Dive in and have fun. Meet the members and find out what fun and games they're up to!

So, welcome to FishProfiles, have fun, and happy fishkeeping!
