Adopted a tortie cat from the humane shelter last month. Her papers said her name was "Pepper". Ugh, we thought we could come up with something more original than that. Stumped. "The Cat Formerly Known as Pepper" is not funny anymore.

Ideas? I am asking here because her one peculiarity is that she is crazy about water. Must have been a frog or something in her last life.

Personally I like the name church, but thats a pet sematary thing

I suppose puddles would be too obvious. We had an otter called ripple at the animal centre.

How about : Ran - it means water lily in japanese.

or my favourite thought so far :

Kameko - it means tortoise -child ( its a long life symbol)

I had a tough time when I adopted some from a friend of my moms which had been so creativly named missy and miss kitty .
Adam helped me decide on zelda, which I liked cause a friend of mine had a gray cat named zelda...and then after a bit of watching the other one came up with Nadia, because she nods.

I like Kameko though, or Waiora...which is the name of my car. It's maori (new zealand) for water of life.

can we get piccies .

^_^

My cats name is Fez

Hmmm, Freckles, Spotty, Whiskers, or Beanie, would be cute easy names.

You could always name one after one of your fish like "Jaws the Cat" or something

You could name her Agua or L'Eau.....Spanish and French for "water" respectively.

I think she looks like "Kitty Cat"....the cat in Family Circus cartoons.

Very nice looking kitty~

Something else that could be cool is to name her after a water plant.....something like Anacharis, Anubias, Vallisneria, Hyacinth....that could be cool

Hmm...I like Kameko, also Brooke. Vivian...my neice is named Vivian so maybe not.

Crazyred that's what I was thinking, some water plant. I know lots of terrestrial plant names but I'm kind of new to the aquatic thing. Like Anubias or something...

Gee, I wish naming my cat were my biggest problem right now!!

Okay, I have the solution for you. Go to this site and look at all the pretty aquatic plant names and pick you out one! http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_cat.php?category=4

Oh wow, I forgot about Cabomba! That would be an awesome name for a cat! You could call her Da Bomb for short!

Pickle, that's cute! Don't worry I won't steal your cat's name My cat isn't a pickle-y type anyway. I had a roommate once with a cat named Trout - it was very fitting of him somehow.

When I met my hubby he had a beautiful fluffy white cat named The Tribble . She goes down in history as one of the best cats I've ever had(bowing down).

I like hearing other peoples' pet names.

My cat's name is Ratito. Yes, it's an unusual name....when we found him he was very little (barely 6 weeks old), he had a really skinny tail and his ears were still sorta on the side of his head instead of on top as in a full grown cat. I thought he looked like a rat so I wanted to call him "Little Rat". Since we live on the Texas/Mexico border I thought it would be better if it were in Spanish, so I asked my Customs & Border Protection agent husband what "Little Rat" was in Spanish. He said rat was Rato, so little rat must be Ratito. WRONG!!!!

"Ratito" is "in a little bit or a little while"......Ratoncito means little rat! Oh well, the cat could not possibly care less.

You like Cabomba?? I thought that was cool, it's a good looking aquarium plant too.

Thanks for the link! Yeah isn't it silly we can't decide on a name for a little ol' cat. Like the fate of the world hangs in the balance or something...

Hubby came up with a couple good ones last night:
Rope Dope (she is crazy for chasing string)
Moxie (I like that a lot - may be it)

I thought this was good:
Frau Meow (Frau is german for "woman" or "wife" - rhymes with meow)
