Well I am now looking for an amp to connect everything together.

I am looking at the Kenwood system that they have. Either the 5.1 or the 6.1. Both come with a speaker package but not a great one. This isn't the point tho.

I will upgrade the speakers at a later date.

The 5.1 is $527 and the 6.1 is $650.

Now what would be the better one to go for???

I am thinking the 6.1 as it is the new technology.

This system will be an intermediate system that I will build onto. So upgrading speakers will come and maybe if the AMP isn't good enough upgrade that.

I am after the connectivity part of the AMP more for now and well it comes with speakers so I can get a little bit of sound out of it as well.

Anyone got one of these?>? or any Advice

The model numbers are -

Kenwood SAT5100 - $527
Kenwood SAT6100 - $650

The difference that I know is that the 6100 has Super video inputs and also the 6.1 channels.

I mainly want it to be a central connection unit that will give a little sound. I know that the speakers that come with it aren't the best but will upgrade tho's later.

I want something that is an intermediate system that will give me a good start for the price as well.

Both are decent starter systems, but i'd go with the 6.1, it's a little better unit with more flexibility Are you dead set on kenwood or are you considering other brands?

It is the only one that is in a package deal at present.

I have looked at others - Pioneer and also the Yamaha as well as the Sony ones.

But they are a little more and not with any speaker set.

I am going to look again today and probably get the 6.1 Kenwood if I don't see anything else.

In my own opinion, kenwood is better in the 12 volt world with stereos, they never seem to be refined enough in the home. You can get several Onkyo systems that come in the package deal for less, and i think you'd be happier with it, honestly.

The Onkyo HT-S780 is less money, comes with 7.1, and a reputation for very high quality components. They're known to internally shield the crap out of their stuff so you get no bleedover, and good quality. I really think you should take a look at it

She goes pretty good in the smallish room I Have it setup in it.

Only problem is that all the speaker wire didn't come in the box. Should I tell them to get more or just get it myself???

I now have to get more cords to connect it up to the way I want. Coaxial cables, RCA cords and S-Video ones as well. Maybe digital Optical.

Probably better off, the stock stuff is teeny tiny. Get a nice roll of at least 14ga. and wire it up yourself

Well I went back to the place to get the wire and he gave me some wire (better then the other wire i Have!) and also a home theatre pack. Which comes with a component cord (RED,GREEN,BLUE cord) a Digital optical cable and also a RCA to SCART box plug thingy.

So that was well worth the trip.

FREE this was which was even more suprising! How great is that.
