<~~ has GM T-56 w/30 spline upgrade (aka dodge viper spec) handles 550 ft/lbs of torque

I haven't had too much of a problem with it, it shifts very hard and firm, doesn't slip out of gear, but it's noisy as all hell!! I'm also going to get a 1le tranny mount, as the crummy low-durometer rubber one bounces around too much.

"Wow, we put the whole front of the engine back togerther in about 3-4 hours."

You definately do not have a 460

I spent almost that same length of time removing a broken bolt from the engine. Or even just doing the timing chain/gears and replacing the cover.

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

"And i have a work of advice to anyone - when you have no way of lifting your engine, and the parts store gives you a 1 piece oil pan gasket, TAKE IT BACK!!!! It took us about an hour to get the 1pc. on. "

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. You want that to be one piece, reduces the chances of a leak developing there at the seal. I spent weeks making sure the seals on the front of my engine were done right.

Nope, it isnt fixed.

We tried a different carb (a bigger one), and we just got done tearing the front of the engine apart to see if the cam timing was good.

No, we didnt get new tires, and probably wolnt for a LOOONG time, but we are mostlikely getting the car tubbed, so we can fit tired 2 times bigger than what is already in the car

When we advance the timing, the car runs better (Like not fouling out, as much) but the car is REALLY hard to start (Because of it sparking before TDC).

We are begining to think it is an ignition problem. But after we got the car put back togerther (saturday and sunday)we did get it running, but 2 cylinders arent firing (#3 & #8) I think it is cuz we were steeping on 2 plug wires when we were working, but im going to check to see if the plug wires are bad today, and we are probably going to go out and buy new wires (and maby) sparkplugs.

And i have a work of advice to anyone - when you have no way of lifting your engine, and the parts store gives you a 1 piece oil pan gasket, TAKE IT BACK!!!! It took us about an hour to get the 1pc. on.

3 weeks????

Wow, we put the whole front of the engine back togerther in about 3-4 hours.

The only leak we got was oil (We thought it was the gasket) but it turns out that the valve cover gaskets finally gave up (We re-used them like 15 times) and oil was comming out there.

But other than that, no leakes, other than the one from the tranny dipstick.

does the T56 tranny make the winding/whining sound the M22 made?

I was thinking of getting one, since they are like $1000 cheaper.

It will suck to have to get rid of that car..
And yes, the more you work on it, the more you'll get attached..

Good idea to let her drive it, go for a nice cruise and make a day of it. Maybe that will change her mind

family friendly might be one way to say it. she says she doesn't really like corvettes. and while i'm not a big fan of the late 70's vettes to today's models, the fact is that i have one in my possession, even if it is only temporary and the more stuff i do to it, the more it feels like my own car

tim, we are *not* putting that kind of money into this car. let whoever buys it decide if they want a stick or not, i am fine with an automatic if it means i won't have to shell out $1000 for a new transmission.

well, as of the current exchange rate, $10k canadian dollars = $8100 US dollars. we're actually going to fix up the few big things and see if we can't get that $8000 like we want i told mrs moondog we should keep it but she doesn't want it. i should have *her* drive it around and see if she doesn't change her mind

Moondog, as a fellow owner of a Chevy purple automatic POS (as Tim says LOL) I have to say very sweet car.. Congrats on getting it started ! I know that musta felt great.

But I'd have to vote for Tim's Camaro if you're racin him.
I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever.. I'll explain why..

My 96 Camaro 6 cyl 3.8 has 200 hp, stock. NOT MUCH.
No fancy carb, turbo, additives or supercharger..
Synthetic oil and a k&n air filter are the only extras..

I beat every souped up import car I raced, and 3/4 of the domestic cars with V8's I raced, some rated for at least 60 more hp then mine. I venture if I still raced, it would give your Vette a serious go. So imagine Tim's race car ?

Chevy performance, gotta love it.
The police loved it too. I can't race anymore.
One more point, no more license.

But still, I can't believe you're not askin at least 10 G's for your car... What a price, if you were close I'd buy it, just to flip it and make at least $4000. (in this area it would sell for at least 10 G's)
