Nope, it isnt fixed.

We tried a different carb (a bigger one), and we just got done tearing the front of the engine apart to see if the cam timing was good.

No, we didnt get new tires, and probably wolnt for a LOOONG time, but we are mostlikely getting the car tubbed, so we can fit tired 2 times bigger than what is already in the car

When we advance the timing, the car runs better (Like not fouling out, as much) but the car is REALLY hard to start (Because of it sparking before TDC).

We are begining to think it is an ignition problem. But after we got the car put back togerther (saturday and sunday)we did get it running, but 2 cylinders arent firing (#3 & #8) I think it is cuz we were steeping on 2 plug wires when we were working, but im going to check to see if the plug wires are bad today, and we are probably going to go out and buy new wires (and maby) sparkplugs.

And i have a work of advice to anyone - when you have no way of lifting your engine, and the parts store gives you a 1 piece oil pan gasket, TAKE IT BACK!!!! It took us about an hour to get the 1pc. on.

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. You want that to be one piece, reduces the chances of a leak developing there at the seal. I spent weeks making sure the seals on the front of my engine were done right.

3 weeks????

Wow, we put the whole front of the engine back togerther in about 3-4 hours.

The only leak we got was oil (We thought it was the gasket) but it turns out that the valve cover gaskets finally gave up (We re-used them like 15 times) and oil was comming out there.

But other than that, no leakes, other than the one from the tranny dipstick.

You definately do not have a 460

I spent almost that same length of time removing a broken bolt from the engine. Or even just doing the timing chain/gears and replacing the cover.

what kind of engine is this?

We got the timing cover off, and the cam gears off in about 45 minutes.

Hey victim - glad you got it started.

I own a 1969 Camaro RS Convertible, that has been in my family since 1971. It' not perfect, but it's a nice driver and never fails to get a lot of attention and offers to buy it.

Enjoy your car.

i *wish* 427 i could have easily gotten rid of this car.

tim, we had a buyer but he backed out at the last minute ]:| ]:| ]:| ]:| ]:| not only that but the distributor had to be rebuilt ] but we've had way more looks now than when we first tried to sell it, so it's only a matter of time.

edit: forgot to mention, it's a 350 in there

it only needs a few things and we could get $8000+ for it, but we don't feel like putting the money into it to make it "perfect".

funny how i don't seem to have mentioned the year anywhere

it's a 1977. the few things wrong with it are: broken speedometer cable, small leak in the front right caliper, no emergency brake, slight transmission fluid leak. other than that it is in great condition and pretty damn fast, despite what tim may have to say about it

It's an old school chevrolet corvette It's a fine car... albeit made in the midst of a fuel crisis where any modern day geo metro has more horsepower, but it's still nice. If it wasn't purple. And an automatic.

let's pick a place halfway and first one there wins

mine is not quite stock, but as i don't have the list of mods made to it i have no idea exactly what is under there right now except that it is the 350 4bolt main w/4bbl carb. just ordered the vacuum advance that i need to finish off the distributor rebuilding, next i think i may give it a tune up i do know that it has headers going straight to glass packs, which means no catalytic converter, so it might not pass emissions test, but i also know it was registered in this state for several years until my father in law died, so it might not make a difference.

Cory, how much horsepower does your three-banger have?

Fortunately, to determine a winner, I don't require that it be street-legal...
