Hey guys, there's nothing like;
going to the drive-in with your family
being eaten alive by mosquitoes
not being able to find a comfortable place/position to sit/lie for hours on end
to rush to the bathroom and concession stand during intermission
letting the kids stay up way past their usual bedtime (kids being punch drunk tired)
watching the kids walk like zombies to bed or crashing on the floor b4 they can get there

AH, the joys of summer!

(Just got home after seeing the new "Transformers" and "Star Trek" movies.) COOL!

You know, it took me a long time to stop thinking of drive in theaters as being epically stupid. Where I grew up whenever it was warm enough outside to be practical it doesn't get dark.

Yeah, I kinda figured in some parts of the world, they just don't work. Here in Michigan, during summer, it doesn't get dark enough until 9:40 or later. The kids have a ball and that's what makes it worth it for me. In the winter months, there's more making out (usually by the teens) than watching movies.

Okay, I'll bite.
Why is it called doggin', Mez?

We only have one Drive-in left in Michigan. (That I know of) There may be a few more but they are definitely few and far between. A dying breed to say the least. The one here is open year 'round. Hot or cold, it's open. They usually cut back on some of the screens in the colder months. BUT, they are for the most part cheaper than in door theaters. You can bring whatever food and drinks you want, talk and laugh as loud as you want (inside your vehicle), usually you get a double feature, and if you luck out maybe a triple. You can stay as long as you want too. If you are willing to adjust your sitting position or the vehicle itself, you can watch the other movie screens playing near yours.

We've got a drive in here....I think it was the largest shopping mall in the southern hemisphere for a very long time.... Yep, they used to call the mall a 'drive in' because you could drive in rather then take the train

We do have a drive in movie theater here, I've still never ever been to one though, to me they sound kinda fun *grabs the bugspray*!
Nights are a tad chilly here though

^_^

Oh yeah, no matter what the day time temp., we always bring jackets & blankets. The temperature dips sometimes 20 degrees lower at night! (shivers)
