If you are in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, and have a good grasp on aquariums in general, I NEED YOUR HELP! My name is Rachel Glick, and I am a senior at Amelia High School in the Cincinnati Area. As a graduation requirement, I have been assigned a year-long project with a learning stretch, called the Senior Exit Action Project (SEAP). I have submitted a proposal with "aquariums" as my SEAP topic to the board, and have had it approved! That was just the first step. As a large part of the SEAP, I must select a mentor with a decent amount of knowledge of my topic to help me throughout the project. Basically, all you would need to do is offer me advice throughout the year, which can be easily done through e-mail (though meetings and phone calls are advised). If you are at all interested, please let me know so I can read you the official guidelines. The sooner you can contact me, the better! Please post here or send me a confidential e-mail to rachelangel87@yahoo.com Thank you for your time. Regards, Rachel Glick |

I forgot to mention that mentor candidates need to be at least 24 years of age. What exactly am I doing? I'm basically doing a bunch of research to figure out the mechanics and biology of the personal aquarium. Along the way, I hope to learn much, including (but not limited to) advances in the fishkeeping industry, the history of the hobby, choosing the correct parts, and the best setups for lifestyles according to personal taste and budget. I also need to conduct an official "Action" and create an official "Product" according to my topic. My action would be to volunteer at the Newport Aquarium, maybe do some job shadowing. For my product, I plan to do a fundraiser and construct a saltwater aquarium that can be donated to the school. As far as mentor duties go, all they would need to do is offer me advice, help answer my questions, and perhaps participate in an interview. |

I live in the Anderson Area (but I'm moving soon to the Mt. Washington area, basically the same area). However, I have two jobs (Care Staff at Vet Clinic & Store Associate at Aquarium Adventure in Mason/Blue Ash). Anyway, I have over 10 years of fishkeeping experiance, worked in a fish store for about 7 months and then Partially managed a fish department of a pet store. I currently have 8 aquarium set up (again, moving, I'd usually have 12 set up.... ![]() If you would like me to help you out, most of it would have to be through e-mail or PMs here, otherwise I would love to. I'm leaving for a trip on thursday, and I won't be back until Nov. 8, so I won't be able to talk through then. Send me a PM if you would like to talk. |
