Today i had to remove a praying mantises from the livingroom...my children was not really happy that the mantis came flying in..you should see my children when they saw this mantis landing on the floor..
It was not a small mantis..i guess it was around 2inches plus.
How big do they get?
We have some mandarin and lemon trees in our garden and i sometimes find them there.
Some people are even buying this insects to have them as pets..
Do you have any insects as pets?

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

only insects i intentionally keep are crickets. They're my pets for a few days until they get gobbled by either my fish or lizards.

I'm sure someone has some hissing cockroaches out there.

One of my Entomology Society colleagues has kept Praying Mantises (they'll devour flies with relish!), Honduras Curly hair Tarantulas, Simny Jungle Devils (big Phasmids related to the stick insects - do a Google search on Eurycantha horrida) and other Phasmids such as Pink Winged Stick Insects and Macleay's Spectres. The one he really wants to get hold of is Acrophylla titan, the world's largest stick insect - 16 inches long!

He's also bred dozens of tropical butterflies and moths, including a stunning Actias selene (Indian Moon Moth) which was 9 inches across!

I've kept and bred native British butterflies, but I haven't the resources to branch out into tropical insects and spiders yet. When I do, I want to try my hand at keeping Galeodes Solifugids (yes, those infamous Camel Spider critters from Iraq ) because they are truly amazing to behold ...

I have a couple species of scorpions, and as a kid I would always raise caterpillars into butterflies.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
