When I was burned and broken? While the days slipped by, from my window, watching and where were youuuuu? when I was hurt and I was helpless? Cause the things you say and the things you do, surround me. While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words dying to believe in what you heard I was staring straight into the shining sun. |

The sun is large If the sun were hollow, a million earths could fit inside. and yet, the sun is only a middle-sized star. The sun is far away About 93 million miles away, and that’s why it looks so small. And even when it’s out of sight The sun shines night and day The sun gives heat The sun gives light The sunlight that we see The sunlight comes from our own sun’s Atomic energy Scientists have found that the sun is a huge atom-smashing machine. the heat and light of the sun come from the nuclear reactions of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and helium.* The sun is a mass of incandescent gas A gigantic nuclear furnace Where hydrogen is built into helium At a temperature of millions of degrees ------------------------------------------ this song is hilarious on their live dvd - they might be giants that is |

Why was the bench still warm? Who had been there? Or the time when the storm tangled up the wire To the horn on the pole at the bus depot And in the back of the edge of hearing These are the words the voice was repeating: Ana Ng and I are getting old And we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence Listen Ana hear my words They're the ones you would think I would say if there was a me for you When I was driving once I saw this painted on a bridge: "I don't want the world, I just want your half" They don't need me here, and I know you're there (don't need me) Where the world goes by like the humid air (world goes by) And it sticks like a broken record Everything sticks like a broken record Everything sticks until it goes away (it goes home) And the truth is, we don't know anything (don't know) |

Some of Dave's stuff is easier on the ears, though, I have to say. I'm not a HUGE fan of PF or Roger Waters actually, but I like RW: The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Love Eric Clapton's guitar work on it. However, it has never caused me to seek out other Roger Waters albums. One is enough. Some artists are like that for me. I'm almost afraid that, if I didn't like their other stuff, it would taint my adoration for the one album. Make any sense? |

My sad heart strove the two between The old love and the new love. The old for her the new That made me think on Ireland dearly. While the soft wind blew down the glade and shook the golden barley. T'was hard the woeful words to fr To break the ties that bound us. But harder still to bear the shame of foreign chains around us. And so I said the mountain glen I'll meet at morning early. And I'll join the bold united men While soft winds shook the barley. T'was sad I kissed away her tears My fond arm round her flinging. When a foe, man's shot burst on our ears From out the wild woods ringing. A bullet pierced my true love's side In life's young spring so early. And on my breast in blood she died While soft winds shook the barley. But blood for blood without remorse I've ta'en at oulart hollow. I've lain my true love's clay like corpse Where I full soon must follow. Around her grave I've wandered drear Noon, night, and morning early. With breaking heart when e'er I hear The wind that shakes the barley. |

I guess I'll get no sleep tonight. A revolution happened. Oh, sorry, you haven't heard? We are the children of the new world. If you're quiet you can watch if you like. They say the future's beginning tonight. Whole empires will crumble. Civilisations will fall. Lie on the bed, hear the sound of it all. No anger, no guilt and no sorrow; it sounds unlikely, I know, but tomorrow you will wake up to find that your whole life has changed. Although nothing looks different a revolution took place. I love the way you do it. I love the way you put them on. You know the answers but you get it wrong. (Just to confuse things). Why did it seem so difficult to realise a simple truth? The revolution begins and ends with you. Now all the breakdowns and nightmares look small. Now we decided not to die after all. Because the meek shall inherit absolutely nothing at all. If you stopped being so feeble you could have so much more. The answer was here all the time, you see. Just how I missed it is a mystery to me. I have waited and waited for this day to arrive. The revolution was televised. Now it's over, bye bye. It's over, bye bye. Yeah, we made it. Just by the skin of our teeth. Perfection is over (The Rave is over) Sheffield is over. The Fear is over. Guilt is over (Please leave the building quietly) Bergerac is over. The hangover is over Men are over Women are over. Cholesterol is over. Tapers are over. Irony is over. Bye bye. Bye bye. ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. Nothing changes on new year’s day. I will be with you again. I will be with you again. Under a blood-red sky A crowd has gathered in black and white. Arms entwined, the chosen few, Newspapers say, it says it’s true. And we can break through, Though torn in two we can be one. I will begin again, I will begin again. Oh and maybe the time is right, Oh maybe tonight. I will be with you again. I will be with you again. And so we are told this is the golden age And gold is the reason for the wars we wage. Though I want to be with you, To be with you night and day. Nothing changes on new year’s day. |

Imagine a man Where it all began a scientist pacing the floor In each nation -- always eager to explore To build the best big stick To turn the winning trick -- But this was something more... The big bang -- took and shook the world Shot down the rising sun The end was begun -- it would hit everyone When the chain reaction was done The big shots -- try to hold it back Fools try to wish it away The hopeful depend on a world without end Whatever the hopeless may say Imagine a place Where it all began They gathered from across the land To work in the secrecy of the desert sand All of the brightest boys To play with the biggest toys -- More than they bargained for... Imagine a man When it all began The pilot of enola gay Flying out of the shockwave On that august day All the powers that be And the course of history Would be changed for evermore... |

So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak. He said, son, I’ve made a life out of readin peoples faces, And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes. So if you don’t mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces. For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice. So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow. Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light. And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all ex Said, if you’re gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right. You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when you’re sittin at the table. Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done. Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep. cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser, And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep. So when he’d finished speakin, he turned back towards the window, Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep. And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even. But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep. You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when youre sittin at the table. Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done. Holiday..) Sometimes the system goes on the blink And the whole thing turns out wrong You might not make it back and you know That you could be well oh that strong And I'm not wrong So where is the passion when you need it the most Oh you and I You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost Cause you had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around You say you don't know You tell me don't lie You work at a smile and you go for a ride You had a bad day You've seen what you like And how does it feel for one more time You had a bad day You had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day Had a bad day ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions |

The shame, the ones who died without a name Hear the dogs howling out of key To a hymn called Faith and Misery (Hey!) And bleed, the company who lost the war today I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday Hear the drum pounding out of time Another protestor has crossed the line (Hey!) To find, the moneys on the other side Can I get another Amen (Amen!) Theres a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!) A gag, A plastic bag on a monument I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday..... ----------------------------- hmm...maybe I shouldn't post the rest of it. ![]() |

Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song, And I’ll try not to sing out of key. I get by with a little help from my friends, I get high with a little help from my friends, Going to try with a little help from my friends. What do I do when my love is away. (does it worry you to be alone) How do I feel by the end of the day (are you sad because you’re on your own) No I get by with a little help from my friends, Do you need anybody, I need somebody to love. Could it be anybody I want somebody to love. Would you believe in a love at first sight, Yes I’m certain that it happens all the time. What do you see when you turn out the light, I can’t tell you, but I know it’s mine. Oh I get by with a little help from my friends, Do you need anybody, I just need someone to love, Could it be anybody, I want somebody to love. I get by with a little help from my friends, Yes I get by with a little help from my friends, With a little help from my friends. ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. Each morning I get up I die a little Can barely stand on my feet Take a look in the mirror and cry Lord what youre doing to me I have spent all my years in believing you But I just cant get no relief, Lord! Somebody, somebody Can anybody find me somebody to love? I work hard every day of my life I work till I ache my bones At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own - I get down on my knees And I start to pray Till the tears run down from my eyes Lord - somebody - somebody Can anybody find me - somebody to love? (he works hard) Everyday - I try and I try and I try - But everybody wants to put me down They say Im goin crazy They say I got a lot of water in my brain Got no common sense I got nobody left to believe Yeah - yeah yeah yeah Oh lord Somebody - somebody Can anybody find me somebody to love? Got no feel, I got no rhythm I just keep losing my beat Im ok, Im alright Ain’t gonna face no defeat I just gotta get out of this prison cell Someday Im gonna be free, lord! Find me somebody to love Can anybody find me somebody to love? |
