"I walk for miles.
Circumnavigate these lands.
Walking blindly,
Holding out my hands.
And I pass the stones
That remind me why I'm here.
I follow the setting sun
And you were there."

i'd sooner forget but i remember those nights
when life was just a bet on the race between the lights
you had your head on my shoulder had your hand in my hair
now you act a little colder like you don't seem to care
well just stay with me baby and i'll take you away
from out of this darkness and into the day
from these rivers of headlights these rivers of rain
from the anger that lives on the streets with these names
as i run every red light on memory lane
i seek desperation explode into flames
and i don't wanna see it again
from all of these signs saying sorry but we're closed
all the way down the telegraph road

These days go by like trucks and trains
Some hit so hard you barely feel a thing
Lights out right now back then and forevermore
Lights out left now these robots marching
To the nearest liquor store
There's something green that's leaving town
Always thought it was blue
Always knew I was wrong
Where it goes who knows
maybe somewhere better than here
And what they say of the grass on the other sides true
Too much time looking up is turning everything blue
Including me - including you
Including you

These times count down like boats and planes
Some wash away in undertow
Some plummet down in flames
Lights out right now back then and forevermore
With sirens on this ambulance is racing
to the west coast shore
There's something blue that's leaving town
We always talked about black we're considering brown
Where it goes who knows
Maybe somewhere better than here
And what they say of the grass on the other sides true
Too much time looking up's turning everything blue
Including me, including the ocean, including you

chasin down a hoodoo there
chasin down a hoodoo there

born on the bayou
born on the bayou
born on the bayou

wish that i was on the bayou
rollin with some cajun queen
wish that i was a fast freight train
a just a truckin on down to new orleans

born on the bayou
born on the bayou
born on the bayou

continuing the "line" theme:

sweet surrender on the quayside
you remember we used to run and hide
in the shadows of the cargos i take you one time
and we're countin all the numbers down to the waterline

near misses on the dog leap stairways
french kisses in the darkened doorways
foghorn blowing out wild and cold
policeman he shines a light on my shoulder

up comes a coaster fast and silent in the night
over my shoulder all you can see are pilot lights
no money in our jackets and our jeans are torn
your hands are cold but your lips are warm

she can see him on the jetty where they used to go
she can feel him in the places where they used to know
when she's walking by the river or the railway line
she can still hear him whisper
let's go down to the waterline

"My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone up there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Im walking down the line that divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line, not the edge and where I walk alone
Read between the lines what’s *** up and everything’s alright
Check my vital signs and know im still alive and I walk alone"

Walk away if you want to
It's ok, if you need to
You can run, but you can never hide
See my shadow come creeping up beside you
There's a magic running through your soul
But you can't have it all

Whatever you do
I'll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go
and I'll be there to remind you
that it only takes a minute of your precious time
to turn around and I'll be two steps behind.

Take the time
and think about it
Walk the line, you just can't fight it
Look around and see what you can find
Like a fire that's burning up inside me,
There's a magic running through your soul
But you can't have it all

Whatever you do
I'll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go
and I'll be there to remind you
that it only takes a minute of your precious time
to turn around and I'll be two steps behind.

There's a magic running through your soul
but you can't have it all, no,

Whatever you do
I'll be two steps behind you
Wherever you go
and I'll be there to remind you
that it only takes a minute of your precious time
to turn around and I'll be two steps behind.

Just turn around, I'll be two steps behind
I'll be two steps behind you
and I'll be there to remind you

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then I'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

This is our last embrace
must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Baby, maybe it is just because I didn't know you at all

Kiss me
Pplease kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause I know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say "no, this can't happen to me"
And did you rush to the phone to call?
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind saying
"maybe, you didn't know him at all"

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memory
Of her sighs that "it's over, it's over"

Jeff Buckley - Last Goodbye

i remember the thirty five sweet goodbyes
when you put me on the wolverine up to annandale
it was still september
when your daddy was quite surprised
to find you with the working girls in the county jail
i was smoking with the boys upstairs
when i heard about the whole affair
i said oh no
william and mary won’t do

well i did not think the girl could be so cruel
and i’m never going back to my old school

Dust falls on the empty halls of my old school
Where the memories fade like the casualty, a forgotten fool
Now wide-eyed has become the blind of spoken rule
As equal only deep is now the word
The lesson's not the answer you once heard

"Don't turn your back on me, don't ever let me down"
She said, "I picked you up each time before you hit the ground
Your selfish face is now erased when someone mentions you
And the darkness that you left is overstepped aside
Will disappear in clouds, the sun arrives
Within a mile of home, within a mile of home"

Oh worry, oh my worry has it been that long?
The whistle keeps on blowing but the chills all gone
His empty frame cannot explain, there's nothing left inside
So sing to me a song from yesterday
When laughter filled the tears that we now make

"Don't turn your back on me, don't ever let me down"
She said, "I picked you up each time before you hit the ground
Your selfish face is now erased when someone mentions you
If only you had seen what I now see
And turned the corner where you would of been
Within a mile of home, within a mile of home"

So sing to me, sing me a song, a song from yesterday
And when the laughter turned these tears before the promises, then they'll slip away
Don't turn your back on me, dont't turn your back on me, don't ever let me down
We are within a mile, we are within a mile, within a mile of home
We are within a mile, we are within a mile, within a mile of home

there's nothing you can do that can't be done
nothing you can sing that can't be sung
nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
it's easy

there's nothing you can make that can't be made
no one you can save that can't be saved
nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time
it's easy

all you need is love
all you need is love
all you need is love, love
love is all you need

all those stories that my dad told me,
they are just a whisper in time
all those things that never came to be,
they are just a whisper in time
a whisper in time, a whisper in time
things that I can't shake from my mind
a whisper in time, a whisper in time
moments that just flicker and die
all those places I wanted to go,
they are just a whisper in time
all those friends who now I do not know,
they are just a whisper in time
maps and roads that brought me here today,
they are just a whisper in time
circumstances that were explained away,
they are just a whisper in time
...we are messengers of memory,
just whispers in time

timeless as the day you fall upon my waking eyes
inviting and inciting me to rise
and through the window in the wall comes streaming in on sunlight wings
a million bright ambassadors of morning

and no one sings me lullabys
and no one makes me close my eyes
so i throw the windows wide
and call to you across the skies

Outside the sun rose you stayed inside
You kept your eyes closed
And pulled down the shades
On your windows
You decided to hideout from the sunlight
It's too bright and it just doesn't sit right
With the way you're feeling today
You're cloudy and gray
Hey! You're chasing the sun away
Hey! You're chasing the sun

one day you'll look to see i've gone
but tomorrow may rain so i'll follow the sun
some day you'll know i was the one
but tomorrow may rain so i'll follow the sun

and now my time has come and so my love i must go
and though i lose a friend in the end you will know
oh

one day you'll find that i have gone
but tomorrow may rain so i'll follow the sun

From PSYCHOPATHIC to "lower" from the album - pump up the VALUUM - by nofx

yea I know it's a stretch, and doesn't REALLY work

lower

I will never feel the ribbon break
I will never taste sweet victory
I don't want to leave the rest behind
I don't want inscription on a plaque

Never first or second place
I won't ever run your rat race
I will always be lower than you
I won't be your competition, lowest
Totem pole possition is where I'd rather
Stay than be like you.

I don't feel the animal instinct
I am not on the top of the food chain
The only battle I will fiercely fight
Is one that hibernates inside my head

Be the best, climb the ladder
Do it better, higher, faster
I refuse to participate
If I go up it will be slow
Im bringing everyone I know
Stopping on the sixth or seventh rung

On a pedestal, isn't the view great
You better watch your step, cause it's nasty fall
When there's no one to catch you when you call.

when we were young and went to school there were certain teachers
who would hurt the children anyway they could
by pouring their derision upon anything we did
exposing every weakness however carefully hidden by the kids

but in the town it was well known when they got home at night
their fat and psychopathic wives would thrash them within inches of their lives

the next song from the original pink floyd

in the year of 39 a simple year of volunteers
in the days when the lands were few
and the ships sailed out on a blue and misty morn
sweetest site ever seen
and the night followed day and the story tellers say
that the score brave souls inside
through so many lonely days sailed across the milky seas
ne'er looked back never feared never cried

can't you hear my call though you're many years away
can't you hear me calling you?
write your letters in the sand
for the day i take your hand
in the land that our grandchildren knew

we spotted the ocean at the head of the trail
where are we going, so far away
and somebody told me that this is the place
where everything's better, everything's safe

walk on the ocean
step on the stones
flesh becomes water
wood becomes bone

and half and hour later we packed up our things
we said we'd send letters and all those little things
and they knew we were lying but they smiled just the same
it seemed they'd already forgotten we'd came

now we're back at the homestead
where the air makes you choke
and people don't know you
and trust is a joke
we don't even have pictures
just memories to hold
that grow sweeter each season
as we slowly grow old

i keep a close watch on this heart of mine
i keep my eyes wide open all the time
i keep the ends out for the tie that binds
because you're mine, i walk the line

i find it very very easy to be true
i find myself alone when each day's through
yes i'll admit that i'm a fool for you
because you're mine, i walk the line

as sure as night is dark and day is light
i keep you on my mind both day and night
and happiness i've known proves that it's right
because you're mine, i walk the line

And rest, clean your conscious, clear your thoughts with speyside with your grain.

"Are you gonna
Live your life wonderin’
Standing in the back
Lookin’ around?
Are you gonna
Waste your time
Thinkin' how you’ve grown up
Or how you missed out?
Things are never gonna
Be the way you want
Where's it gonna
Get you acting serious?"

I was spinning free with a little sweet and simple numbing me.
What a dizzy dance.
This sweetness will not be concerned with me.
No the sweetness will not be concerned with.

This house is full of eyes but I can't look at anyone
They've seen this face a thousand times
Most relaxing thing I do - hang half way out a third floor window,
and look at rocks if I fall out,
And maybe I'll fall hard,
something tough to break me,
something sharp to rip into my insides and bleed out all that pain.
Sorry I don't even know your name
I guess for me it's easy this way.

Maybe I'll catch fire,
something warm to hold me,
something pure to burn away the darkness that hides inside my mind.
All that evil #@%$'s not hard to find
I guess I only claim to be nice

spasm waiter dropping to his knees sees
slander on wrap paper ties
lifting up his head he feels the sunlight in his eyes

grasp a kettle top and shoot the breeze please
ramble while slop scraper sighs
tossing in his bed at night he’ll dream until he dies

operations at the sink
the dribble liquid visible beneath his troubled eyes
feels it tilt and start to slide

mask a pretty hopper’s foot with squeeze cheese
dangle some grape apple pies
tranquil and serene until he runs out of supplies

your hands and feet are mangos
you’re gonna be a genius anyway

your hands and feet are mangos
you’re gonna be a genius anyway

i can't believe the news today
but i can't close my eyes and make it go away
how long? how long must we sing this song?
how long? how long?

broken bottles under children's feet
bodies strewn across the dead end street
but i won't heed the battle call
it puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall

sunday bloody sunday
sunday bloody sunday

They say mother earth is breathing
With each wave that finds the shore
Her soul rises in the evening
For to open twilights door
Her eyes are the stars in heaven
Watching o'er us all the while
And her heart it is in Ireland
Deep within the Emerald Isle

We are forty against hundreds
In someone elses bloody war
We know not why were fighting
Or what we're dying for
They will storm us in the morning
When the sunlight turns to sky
Death is waiting for its dance now
Fate has sentenced us to die

Ireland I am coming home
I can see your rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland

Oh the captian he lay bleeding
I can hear him calling me
These men are yours now for the leading
Show them to their destiny
And as I look up all around me
I see the ragged tired and torn
I tell them to make ready
'Cause we're not waiting for the morn

Ireland I am coming home
I can see your rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland

Now the fog is deep and heavy
As we forge the dark and fear
We can hear their horses breathing
As in silence we draw near
There are no words to be spoken
Just a look to say good-bye
I draw a breath and night is broken
AsI scream our battle cry

Ireland I am coming home
I can see your rolling fields of green
And fences made of stone
I am reaching out won't you take my hand
I'm coming home Ireland

I am home Ireland

In its place grew
an angry festered wound
full of hatered and remourse
where I pick and scratch
till the blood it matched
silent rage that now fills my lungs
for there are many ways
to kill a man they say
with bayonet, axe or sword
but son a bullet fired
from a shapeless guise
just put the shell of a Thompson gun

walk away me boy
walk away me boys
and by morning we'll be free
wipe that golden tear
from your mother dear
and raise what's left
of the flag for me

from the east out to the western shore
where many men and many more will fall
but no angel flys with me tonight
though freedom reigns on all
and curse the name for which
we slaved our days
so every men chose Kingdom Come
But sure as night turns day
it's the passion play
oh my god
what have they done
with madmen rage
well the dogged craze
but the dead rise again you fools

and I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich whille it buries the poor
the power hungry selling soldiers in a human grocery store
ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

"Lights go out and I can't be saved
Tides that I've tried to swim against
Put me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I'm beging please, singing

Come out of things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head
And a, trouble that can't be named
a tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing

Confusion that never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks, gonna
Come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know, singing"

i do believe it's part THREE now babel

generals gathered in their masses
just like witches at black masses
evil minds that plot destruction
sorcerors of death's construction
in the fields the bodies burning
as the war machine keeps turning
death and hatred for mankind
poisoning their brainwashed minds
oh lord yeah!

politicians lock themselves away
they only started the whole war
why don't they go out into the fight?
they leave that role to the poor

time will tell on their power minds
making war just for fun
treating people just like pawns in chess
wait till judgement day comes

now in darkness world stops turning
ashes where the bodies burning
no more war pigs have the power
hand of god has struck the hour
day of judgements god is calling
on their knees the war pigs crawling
begging mercy for their sins
satan laughing spreads his wings

Crazy,but that's how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe it's not too late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate

Mental wounds not healing
Life's a bitter shame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules

One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you live the role
Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
Yeah

Heirs of a cold war
That's what we've become
Inheriting troubles I'm mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
I'm living with something that just isn't fair

Mental wounds not healing
Who and what's to blame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning

So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep

It seems no one can help me now
I'm in too deep
There's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray

Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there

Can you help me remember how to smile
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded
Life's mystery seems so faded

I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train

And everything seems cut and dry
Day and night, earth and sky
Somehow I just don't believe it

Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there

Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughin' at the rain
Little out of touch, little insane
Just easier than dealing with the pain

Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there

Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same

You know the rules....associate the song with a new song...match anything and everything....just keep it clean and site friendly.

I had this dream where I relished
The fray and the screaming that filled my head all day
It was as though I'd been spit there, settled in , into a pocket
Of a lighthouse off some rocky socket,
Off the coast of France, Dear

One afternoon, four thousand men died in the water here
Five hundred more were thrashing madly as parasites might in your blood
Now I was in lifeboat designed for ten and ten and only,
Anything that systematic would get you hated.
It's not a deal nor a test nor a love of something fated.
The selection was quick, the crew was picked and
those left in the water got kicked off our pant leg and we headed for home.

Then the dream ends when the phone rings
You doing alright he said it's out there, most days and nights
But only a fool would complain
Anyway Susan if you like our conversation is as faint as the sound in my memory
As those fingernails scratching on the hull

floating down through the clouds
memories come rushing up to meet me now
but in the space between the heavens
and the corner of some foreign field
i had a dream
i had a dream
goodbye max goodbye ma
after the service when you're walking slowly to the car
and the silver in her hair shines in the cold november air
you'll hear the tolling bell
and touch the silk in your lapel
and as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
you take her frail hand
and hold on to the dream

a place to stay enough to eat
somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
where you can speak out loud about your doubts and fears
and what's more
no one ever disappears
you never hear their standard issue kicking in your door
you can relax on both sides of the tracks
and maniacs
don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
and everyone has recourse to the law
and no one kills the children anymore
no one kills the children anymore
night after night going round and round my brain
this dream is driving me insane
in the corner of some foreign field the gunner sleeps tonight
what's done is done
we cannot just right off this final scene
take heed of the dream
take heed of the dream

Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Doomed
Pick your pockets full of sorrow
And run away with me tomorrow
June

We’ll try and ease the pain
But somehow we’ll feel the same
Well, no one knows
Where our secrets go

I send a heart to all my dearies
When your life is so, so dreary
Dream
I’m rumored to the straight and narrow
While the harlots of my perils
Scream

And I fail
But when I can, I will
Try to understand
That when I can, I will

Mother weep the years I’m missing
All our time can’t be given
Back
Shut my mouth and strike the demons
That cursed you and your reasons
Out of hand and out of season
Out of love and out of feeling
So bad

When I can, I will
Words defy the plan
When I can, I will

Fool enough to almost be it
And cool enough to not quite see it
And old enough to always feel this
Always old, I’ll always feel this

No more promise no more sorrow
No longer will I follow
Can anybody hear me
I just want to be me
When I can, I will
Try to understand
That when I can, I will

hey old man in woman's shoes
i wonder if he knows i think he's crazy
when he was young did he have dreams of
wearing women's shoes and being lazy

it makes me wonder when i grow to be that age
will i be walking down the streets begging for your spare change
or will i grow that old?
will i still be around?
the way i carry on i'll end up six feet underground
and waste away

when the old man was in school
did the golden rules make him go crazy
or did he hide away from hopes
behind a smile and smoking dope it's crazy

it makes me wonder when i grow to be that age
will i be walking down the streets begging for your spare change
or will i grow that old?
will i still be around?
the way i carry on i'll end up six feet underground
and waste away

it seems so frightening
time passes by like lightning
before you know it you're struck down
i always waste my time on
my chemical emotions
it keeps my head spinning around
and waste away

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

Old man look at my life,
Twenty four
and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.

Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.

I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.

Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

i caught you knocking at my cellar door
i love you baby can i have some more
gone gone the damage done

i hit the city and i lost my band
i seen the needle take another man
gone gone the damage done

i sing the song because i love the man
i know that some of you don't understand
milk blood to keep from running out

i seen the needle and the damage done
a little part of it in everyone
but every junkie's like the setting sun

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hold
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

End of passion play, crumbling away
I’m your source of self-destruction
Veins that pump with fear, sucking darkest clear
Leading on your deaths construction

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You’re dedicated to
How I’m killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master

Master of puppets I’m pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can’t see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master

Needlework the way, never you betray
Life of death becoming clearer
Pain monopoly, ritual misery
Chop your breakfast on a mirror

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You’re dedicated to
How I’m killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master

Master of puppets I’m pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can’t see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master

Master, master, where’s the dreams that I’ve been after?
Master, master, you promised only lies
Laughter, laughter, all I hear and see is laughter
Laughter, laughter, laughing at my cries

Hell is worth all that, natural habitat
Just a rhyme without a reason
Neverending maze, drift on numbered days
Now your life is out of season

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You’re dedicated to
How I’m killing you

Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
Master

Master of puppets I’m pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me, you can’t see a thing
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master
Master
Just call my name, `cause I’ll hear you scream
Master

Halls of justice painted green
Money talking
Power wolves beset your door
Hear them stalking
Soon you'll please their appetite
They devour
Hammer of justice crushes you
Overpower

The ultimate in vanity
Exploiting their supremacy
I can't believe the things you say
I can't believe
I can't believe the price you pay
Nothing can save you

Justice is lost
Justice is raped
Justice is gone
Pulling your strings
Justice is done
Seeking no truth
Winning is all
Find it so grim
So true
So real

Apathy their stepping stone
So unfeeling
Hidden deep animosity
So deceiving
Through your eyes their light burns
Hoping to find
Inquisition sinking you
With prying minds

The ultimate in vanity
Exploiting their supremacy
I can't believe the things you say
I can't believe
I can't believe the price you pay
Nothing can save you

Justice is lost
Justice is raped
Justice is gone
Pulling your strings
Justice is done
Seeking no truth
Winning is all
Find it so grim
So true
So real

Lady justice has been raped
Truth assassin
Rolls of red tape seal your lips
Now you're done in
Their money tips her scales again
Make your deal
Just what is truth?i cannot tell
Cannot feel

The ultimate in vanity
Exploiting their supremacy
I can't believe the things you say
I can't believe
I can't believe the price we pay
Nothing can save you

Justice is lost
Justice is raped
Justice is gone
Pulling your strings
Justice is done
Seeking no truth
Winning is all
Find it so grim
So true
So real

Seeking no truth
Winning is all
Find it so grim
So true
So real

until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior
is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
when everywhere is war
war
me say war

and until there's no longer first class or second class citizens of any nation
until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of the sky
me say war

and until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race
this is war

and until that day
the dream of lasting peace
world citizenship
and the rule of international morality
will remain but a fleeting illusion
to be pursued but never attained
now everywhere is war

There's a prophet on a mountain and he's making up dinner
With long division and writing crop
Anybody can feel like a winner
When it's served up piping hot

But the people aren't looking for a handout
They're America's working corps
Can this be what they voted for?

Let them eat war [x2]
That's how to ration the poor
Let them eat war [x2]

There's an urgent need to feed
Declining pride

From the force to the union shops
The war economy is making new jobs
But the people who benefit most
Are breaking bread with their benevolent hosts

Who never stole from the rich to give to the poor
All they ever gave to them was a war
And a foreign enemy to deplore

Let them eat war [x2]
That's how to ration the poor
Let them eat war [x2]

There's an urgent need to feed
Declining pride

We've got to kill 'em and eat 'em
Before they reach for their checks
Squeeze some blue collars
Let them bleed from their necks
Seize a few dollars from the people who sweat
Cause it's freedom or death and they won't question it
At a job site the boss is god like
Conditioned workhorses park at a stoplight
Seasoned vets with their feet in nets
A stones throw away from a rock fight
But not tonight, feed ‘em death

Here comes another ration (feed them death)
Cause they're the finest in the nation (feed them death)
When there's nothing left to feed them
When it's freedom or it's death

Let them eat war [x2]
That's how to ration the poor
Let them eat war [x2]

There's an urgent need to feed

in the howling winds comes a stinging rain
see them driving nails into the souls on the tree of pain
from the fireflies a red orange glow
see the face of fear running scared in the valley below

bullet the blue sky
bullet the blue sky
bullet the blue
bullet the blue

in the locust wind comes a rattle and hum
jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome
you plant a demon seed
you raise a flower of fire
see them burning crosses
see the flames get higher and higher

bullet the blue sky
bullet the blue sky
bullet the blue
bullet the blue

this guy comes up to me his face red like the rose of a thornbush
like all the colors of a royal flush
and he's peeling off those dollar bills
slapping em down
100
200

and i can see those fighter planes
and i can see those fighter planes
across the mud huts where the children sleep
through the alleys of a quiet city street
you take a staircase to the first floor
turn the key and slowly unlock the door
as a man breathes into a saxophone
through the walls you hear the city groan
outside it's america
outside it's america
across the field you see the sky ripped open
see the rain coming through the gaping wound
pounding on the women and children who run
into the arms
of america

...Come down and waste away with me, down with me
Slow how, you wanted it to be, I'm over my head, out of her head she sang
And I wonder when I sing along with you if everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when she sang...

What have we done with innocence
It disappeared with time, it never made much sense

they put kids in jail for a life they ain't even get to start
that's murder too and it's breakin my heart
it's breakin this nation apart
we gave the youth all the anger it's just we ain't taught them how to express it and so it's dangerous
you can't talk to them unless your language is relating to what they going through
so busy ignoring them you can't see what they showing you
and you wonder why we called baby-daddy's and baby-momma's
when we grow up we can learn to be adult mothers and fathers
yo, i'm so blessed to have a boy and a girl
every day they bring joy to my world

Here's the story,
Of a lovely lady,
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold,
Like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.

Here's the story,
Of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men,
Living all together, but they were all alone-.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
and they knew they was much more than a hunch.
That this group,
Must somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch,
The Brady Bunch- the Brady Bunch
That's the way- we became the Brady Bunch

Today's on fire
The sky is bleeding above me, and I am blistered
I walk these lines of blasphemy, every day
And still...

Like a bad star, I'm falling faster down to her
She's the only one who knows, what it is to burn

I feel diseased
Is there no sympathy, from the sun
The sky's still fire
But I am safe in here, from the world outside

well i asked my friend 'where is that black smoke coming from?'
he just coughed and changed the subject said 'um i think it might snow some'
so i left him sippin his tea
and i jumped in my chariot to run off and see
just why and who could it be this time

sisters and brothers daddies mothers aunt and uncline
when i reached the scene the flames were making a ghostly whine
so i stood on a horse's back
and i screamed without a whack
i said oh baby why'd you burn your brother's house down?

hey
look at the sky turn a hell fire red lord
somebody's house is burning down down down down
look at the sky turn a hell fire red lord
somebody's house is burning down down
down down down

i don't like whips
i don't like chains
i don't go chopping up
my neighbor's brains
don't really even like shopping
cept at the flea mart and
i hate wal-mart

now you may wonder
what's all this fuss?
if you don't like the train
take the bus
i've found religion
and just between us
i hate wal-mart

if you didn't hear the story
well here's how it is
big company sell below cost
drive mom and pop out of biz
pretty soon all over this land
one big square store identical brand
and that's why i hate wal-mart

used to be you could drive around
and stop in at three or four towns
encounter different sights and sounds
different if not unique
different accents different smells
different things to buy and sell
now it's all taco bell
i hate wal-mart

roads used to dip and wind
you drive slow relax your mind
never knew what you'd find
around the next bend
but now the freeway goes so straight
it'd go right past the pearly gates
i don't feel human i feel like freight
i hate wal-mart

i like to roam
i like to meet
individuals on the street
you always know the one you meet
is one of a kind
but more and more it seems to me
reflections of something on tv
when we're all alike nobody's free
i hate wal-mart

i boycott burger king
i boycott newt gingrich
i boycott everything which i've seen advertised
i used to go out to dinner in a diner
now they say fast food is finer
but it tastes like it fell out of an airliner
it's enough to make you weep

i don't like board games
i don't like brand names
they make inflated claims
they're full of bleep
everyone i know is a high tech dealer
want to sell me a digital potato peeler
and i don't like garrison keeler cause
he's so white

turn on my radio dial
like to hear something new once in awhile
but it's the same old crap in a brand new style
it's audio rape
but still i try to pick and choose
i turn the dial but i always lose
they only play the worst rock and roll
and once in awhile if you're lucky maybe one little rhythm and blues
and that's why
god made tapes

used to be we wore beads and bells
made our own clothes in our own way
now we all wear uniforms that say
hard rock cafe
we're in a state of sartorial decay
and that's why i hate wal-mart

if there's a pretty spot they'll pave it over
put a cloverleaf over a four leaf clover
black paint on the white cliffs of dover
it never fails

hope you like this song
thanks a bunch
could go on but i gotta go eat lunch
if you didn't like it i've got a hunch
you work in sales

so grow your own
make your own
be careful what you own
develop non-shopping to an art
and whatever you do
don't shop at wal-mart

I can't believe it, the way you look sometimes
Like a trampled flag on a city street, oh yeah
And I don't want it, the things you're offering me
Symbolized bar code, quick ID, oh yeah

Cuz I'm a 21st century digital boy
I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys
My daddy's a lazy middle class intellectual
My mommy's on valium, so ineffectual
Ain't life a mystery?

I can't explain it, the things you're saying to me
It's going yayayayayayaya, oh yeah

Cuz I'm a 21st century digital boy
I don't know how to read but I've got a lot of toys
My daddy's a lazy middle class intellectual
My mommy's on valium, so ineffectual
Ain't life a mystery?

Tried to tell you about no control
But now I really don't know
And then you told me how bad you had to suffer
Is that really all you have to offer?

Cuz I'm a 21st century digital boy
I don't know how to live but I've got a lot of toys
My daddy's a lazy middle class intellectual
My mommy's on valium, so ineffectual
Ain't life a mystery?

emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
none but ourselves can free our minds
have no fear for atomic energy
cause none of them can stop the time

how long shall they kill our prophets
while we stand aside and look?
they say it's just a part of it
we've got to fulfill the book

won't you help to sing
these songs of freedom
cause all i ever had
redemption song
redemption song
redemption songs

This band did a cover of the previous song:

When you were little she sold you out
Out be the ounce the drugs and alcohol was free
Or maybe it was your imagination
Friend of the family but now the foe
She gets inside your mind with everything you smoke
That's why your conspiracy comes from some words she spoke

The rain is controlled by misty
Who's one but feels like three
She always has to be behind every little problem I face
I'd drive to Ireland but there's a lake between the land
She hired private eyes to follow me

Maybe I'll go to Paris and France
And meet the Pope and someone to be with for life
A place far away where she could never find us here

Everything bad is a "misty"
She's hiding in that tree
I'm swimming at the beach and she's got submarines and high technology
She runs my life and in my dreams at night
And everywhere I go I'm always six degress, from misty

i'll sink manhattan
right under the sea
i'll find the sweetest spot to watch as it goes away

you were so happy
with the things that you said
like he's my lower half
you laughed
but you're gonna cry

a river of tiny tears flow from your crocodile eyes
too late to apologize i say as flood waters rise

i'll sink manhattan
i'll sacrifice friends
i think they'd understand my plans
i'll never be sure

i've got a message
so before i get through
i'll find your answering machine and i'll sink it first

burn your forget me nots
admit that true love can die
no i won't apologize my love
just kiss me goodbye

Bangkok, Oriental setting
And the city don't know that the city is getting
The creme de la creme of the chess world in a
Show with everything but Yul Brynner

Time flies - doesn't seem a minute
Since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it
All change - don't you know that when you
Play at this level there's no ordinary venue

It's Iceland... or the Philippines... or Hastings... or... or this place!

One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

One town's very like another
When your head's down over your pieces, brother

It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
To be looking at the board, not looking at the city

Whaddya mean? Ya seen one crowded, polluted, stinking town...

Tea, girls, warm, sweet, sweet
Some are set up in the Somerset Maugham suite

Get Thai'd! You're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's among the purest
I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine

One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

Siam's gonna be the witness
To the ultimate test of cerebral fitness
This grips me more than would a
Muddy old river or reclining Buddha

And thank God I'm only watching the game, controlling it

I don't see you guys rating
The kind of mate I'm contemplating
I'd let you watch, I would invite you
But the queens we use would not excite you

So you better go back to your bars, your temples, your massage parlours

One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
A little flesh, a little history
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

stepping out to angelucci's for my coffee beans
checking out the movies and the magazines
the waitress she watches me crossing from the barroca bar
i get a pickup for my steel guitar
i saw ya walking out shaftsbury avenue
scuse me talking i wanna marry you
this is seventh heaven street to me don't seem so proud
you're just another angel in the crowd
and i'm walking in the wild west end
walking in the wild west end
walking with your wild best friend

now the conductress on the number 19 she was a honey
pink toenails and hands all dirty with the money
greasy greasy greasy hair easy smile
she made me feel 19 for awhile
i went down to chinatown
in the backrooms its a man's world
all the money that goes down
duck inside the doorway duck to eat
just ain't no way you and me we can't beat
walking in the wild west end
walking in the wild west end
walking with your wild best friend

now a gogo dancing girl yes i saw her
the dj he says here's mandy for ya
i feel alright seeing her do her stuff
she's dancing high i move on by
closeups can get rough
when you're walking in the wild west end
walking in the wild west end
walking with your wild best friend.

I'm going for a walk
not the after dinner kind
I'm gonna use my hands
and I'm gonna use my mind

and who the hell are you to tell me what to do?
you can't even tie your own haggard shoes
your closet is a mess, and your backyard's falling down
and I have no grand ideas or intentions of sticking around

I'm gonna build a world
independant and exempt
all alone I'll be an empire
with no mortgage and no rent

and I don't need to live in your stinking zoo
you can't even feed the animals donated to you
your storage sheds are ramshackled, flies decorate the walls
and you expect me to die here in this tiny stall?

and I know you're watching! everything I do
call me threat to your children call me socially unglued
call me master of insanity, unable to relate
call me lazy, bane, and filthy
call me monstrous reprobate

I'm going for a walk and there's nothing you can do
'cuz I don't have to live like you
so I'm going for a walk

Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lua, Baby What I Say
Here comes Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnels, trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Yeah, the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day

He do the song about the sweet lovin' woman
He do the song about the knife
He do the walk, he do the walk of life

next song on that album:

well all the late night bargains have been struck
between the satin beaus and their belles
prehistoric garbage trucks have the city to themselves
echos roars dinosaurs
they're all doing the monster mash
most of the taxis and most of the whores are only taking calls for cash

i don't know how it happened
it all took place so quick
but all i can do is hand it to you
and your latest trick

my door was standing open
security was laid back and lax
but it was only my heart that got broken
you musta had a pass key made out of wax
you play robbery with insolence
and i play the blues in 12 bars down on lovers lane
and you never did have the intelligence to use
the twelve keys hanging off of my chain

i don't know how it happened
it all took place so quick
but all i can do is hand it to you
and your latest trick

well now it's past last call for alcohol
past recall's been here and gone
the landlord he finally paid us off
the satin jazzmen have put away their horns
and we're standing in sight of this wonderland
looking so bereaved and so bereft
like a bowery bum when he finally understands
the bottle's empty and there's nothing left

i don't know how it happened
it was faster than the eye could flick
but all i can do is hand it to you
and your latest trick

Gonna dive into a dive
I've dove into before
Gonna haunt a haunt I've haunted
Like a million times or more
A familiar joint
Where getting drunk's the only point
To frequent this place
With any frequency at all

Countin' on a remedy
I've counted on before
Goin' with a cure that's never failed me
What you call the disease,
I call the remedy
What you're callin' the cause,
I call the cure

Gonna sing a song, a song to you
A song I've sung before
Belt out a ballad that I've belted out
A million times or more
The words I'm gonna scream
And getting drunk's the central theme
to the lyrics, if you can
make the lyrics out at all

Countin' on a remedy
I've counted on before
Goin' with a cure that's never failed me
What you call the disease,
I call the remedy
What you're callin' the cause,
I call the cure

Just a devotion to a potion
Please no applause
A dedication to a medication
A crutch a cure a cause
What I've counted on to pick me up
Has knocked me to my knees
Before I hit the floor once more
I'll call it the disease

Well Mack the Finger said to Louie the King
I got forty red white and blue shoe strings
And a thousand telephones that don't ring
Do you know where I can get rid of these things
And Louie the King said let me think for a minute son
And he said yes I think it can be easily done
Just take everything down to Highway 61.

how many roads must a man walk down 42!
before you call him a man?
how many seas must the wild duck sail
before she sleeps in the sand?
how many times can the cannonballs fly
before they are forever banned?
the answer my friend, is blowing in the wind
the answer is blowing in the wind

Well I dig you Georgia peaches
Makes me fell right at home
Well now I dig you Georgia peaches
Makes me fell right at home
But I don't love me no one woman
So I can't stay in Georgia long

Well now they call me the breeze
I keep blowin' down the road
Well now they call me the breeze
I keep blowin' down the road
I ain't got me nobody
I don't carry me no load

I saw that moondog!

Last night I had the strangest dream
I sailed away to China, in a little rowboat to find ya
And you said you had to get your laundry clean
Didn't want no one to hold you, what does that mean? And you said...

Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no
I've got to keep on moving
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground, oh no
I've got to keep on moving

You're on the road and now you pray it'll last
The road behind was rocky
But now you're feeling cocky
You look at me and you see your past
Is that the reason why you're running so fast? And you said...

Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no
I've got to keep on moving
Ain't nothing gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground, oh no
I've got to keep on moving

Slow down, you move too fast
You've got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy

He could see the storm clouds rollin’ across the hill
He barely beat the rain in from the field
And between the backdoor slammin she heard
Him say
"damn this rain and damn this wasted day"
But shed been waiting for this day for oh so long
She was standin in the kitchen with nothin but her
A on
And in disbelief he stood and he stared awhile
When their eyes met they both began to smile

(chorus)
Somewhere other than the night
She needs to hear I love you
Somewhere other than the night
She needs to know you care
She wants to know she’s needed
And she needs to be held tight
Some where other than the night

They spent the day wrapped up in a blanket
On the front porch swing
He’d come to realize he’d neglected certain things
And there are times she feels alone even by his sided
It was the first time she ever saw him cry

(chorus)
To know she’s needed
She needs to be held tight
Somewhere other than the night

Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
Workin' on our night moves
Tryin' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves
In the summertime
In the sweet summertime

"Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" Big and Rich

Dum de de dum, de de dum, de de dum, de de da da.
Dum de de dum, de de dum, de de dum, de da da, la la la.

Well, I walk into the room passin' out hundred dollar bills.
An' it kills and it thrills like the horns on my Silverado grille.
An' I buy the bar a double round of Crown an' everybody's getting down,
An' this town ain't never gonna be the same.

'Cause I saddle up my horse an' I ride into the city.
I make a lot of noise 'cause the girls, they are so pretty.
Ridin' up an' down Broadway on my old stud, Leroy.
And the girls say: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Everybody says: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."

Well, I don't give a dang about nothing: I'm singing an' bling-blanging,
While the girls are drinkin' long necks down!
An' I wouldn't trade ol' Leroy or my Chevrolet for your Escalade, or your freak parade:
I'm the only John Wayne left in this town.

An' I saddle up my horse an' I ride into the city.
I make a lot of noise 'cause the girls, they are so pretty.
Ridin' up an' down Broadway on my old stud, Leroy.
And the girls say: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Everybody says: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."

Instrumental break.

"Well, I'm a thoroughbred."
That's what she said in the back of my truck bed,
As I was gettin' buzzed on suds, out on some back country road.
We where flyin' high, fine as wine,
Having ourselves a Big and Rich time
An' I was going, just about as far as she'd let me go.
But her evaluation of my cowboy reputation
Had me beggin' for salvation all night long.
So I took her out, gigging frogs,
Introduced her to my old bird dog
An' sang her every Willie Nelson song I could think of.
An' we made love.

What? What?
"Save a horse, ride a cowboy."
Everybody says: "Save a horse, ride a cowboy."

Back about eighteen and twenty-five
I left Tennessee very much alive
I never would've made it through the Arkansas mud
If I hadn't been riding on the Tennessee Stud

Had some trouble with my sweetheart's Pa
One of her brothers was a bad outlaw
I wrote a letter to my Uncle Spud And
I rode away on the Tennessee Stud
On a Tennessee Stud
The Tennessee Stud was long and lean
The color of the sun and his eyes were green
He had the nerve and he had the blood
There never was a horse like Tennessee Stud

You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can’t be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should

One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers

One life
But we’re not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other

I crossed many states just to stand here now, my face all hot with tears
I crossed city, and valley, desert, and stream, to bring my body here
My history and future blaze bright in me and all my joy and pain
Go through my head on our mountain bed where I smell your hair again.

and you're so far away from me
where are you when the sun goes down
you're so far away from me

so far away from me
so far i just can't see
you're so far away from me
you're so far away from me

i'm tired of making love babe all alone
when you're so far away from me
tired of making out on the telephone
cause you're so far away from me

you're so far away from me
so far i just can't see
you're so far away from me
you're so far away from me

Believe it or not
george isn't at home
please leave a message, at the beep

I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone,
where could I be?
believe it or not, I'm not home.

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Where are you going, my little one, little one
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you're two, turn around and you're four
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door

Turn around, turn around
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door

Where are you going, my little one, little one
Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you're tiny, turn around and you're grown
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own

Turn around, turn around
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own

Turn around, turn around
Turn around and you're the young girl going out of the door

Where are you going, my little one, little one
Where are you going, my ba-by, my own?

Wandering child,
so lost
so helpless,
yearning for my guidance...

Angel of father;
fried
or phantom,
who is it there, standing?

Too long you've wandered in winter...
far from my far reaching gaze,
wildly my mind beats against you,
yet your soul obeys!

Angel of music,
you denied me!
turning from true beauty.

Angel of music,
do not shun me!
come to your strange angel...

I am your angel,
come to me angel of music...

You can't see the demons
Till the demons come calling for you
You're deaf to them screaming
Till they're standing right behind you
Blind to flames glowing
Till thy're growing all around you
Numb to fangs gripping
Until they're ripping into you

You're miles from safe harbor
Run, run, run, run, run away
The fire has reached starboard

On the Queen Anne's Revenge
Skull and bones and a serpent's head
Are dancing with the madmen
On the Queen Anne's Revenge
Have a gargle with your demons and me

Walked the plank of SS Seasick
Survived to only continue the curse
Marooned on a small sandy island
With neither bird, beast nor herb
Drums started beating
None there but the sun and the flu
An the horns of the demon
No time to decide what to do

You have to do things your own way
Run, run, run, run, run away
You'll have to find out the hard way

On the Queen Anne's Revenge
Skull and bones and a serpent's head
Are dancing with the madmen
On the Queen Anne's Revenge
Have a gargle with your demons and me

Early in the evenin',
just about supper time,
over by the court house
they're starting to unwind.

Four kids on the corner,
trying to bring you up.
Willy picks a tune out,
and he blows it on the harp.

Down On The Corner
out in the street.
Willy and the poor boys are playin'
bring a nickel
tap your feet.

Rooster hits the washboard
and people just got smile,
Blinky thumps the gut bass,
and solos for a while.
Poorboy twangs the rythm out
on his kalamazoo
Willy goes into a dance
and doubles on kazoo.

Down On The Corner
out in the street.
Willy and the poor boys are playin'
bring a nickel
tap your feet.

Down On The Corner
out in the street.
Willy and the poor boys are playin'
bring a nickel
tap your feet.

You don't need a penny,
just to hang around,
but if you've got a nickel,
won't you lay your money down?

Over on the corner
there's a happy noise.
People come from all around
to watch the magic boy.

Down On The Corner
out in the street.
Willy and the poor boys are playin'
bring a nickel
tap your feet.

The storms are raging on the rollin' sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

There’s a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Killer on the road, yeah

Girl ya gotta love your man
Girl ya gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah

Wow!

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out alone
Riders on the storm

Every light is burnin’
In a house across town.
She’s pacin’ by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown.
Askin’ for miracle,
Hopin’ she’s not right,
Prayin’ it’s the weather
That’s kept him out all night.
And the thunder rolls.
And the thunder rolls.

The thunder rolls
And the lightnin’ strikes.
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night,
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls.

She’s waitin’ by the window
When he pulls into the drive
She rushes out to hold him
Thankful he’s alive
But on the wind and rain
A strange new perfume blows
And the lightnin’ flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls

The thunder rolls
And the lightnin’ strikes.
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night,
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls.

She runs back down the hallway
To the bedroom door
She reaches for the pistol
Kept in the dresser drawer
Tells the lady in the mirror
He won’t do this again
Cause tonight will be the last time
She’ll wonder where he’s been

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured
I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved
Everything up to that point had been left unresolved.
Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

the long and winding road that leads to your door
will never disappear
i've seen that road before
it always leads me here
lead me to your door

the wild and windy night
that the rain washed away
has left a pool of tears
crying for the day
why leave me standing here
let me know the way

many times i've been alone
and many times i've cried
anyway you'll never know
the many ways i've tried

but still they lead me back
to the long winding road
you left me standing here
a long long time ago
don't leave me standing here
lead me to your door

Around the next bend, take the highway to the sun
Or the rocky road, it really don't matter which one
I was in hurry but that don't matter now
'cause I have to get off that road of tears somehow.

There's a mansion on the hill
Psychedelic music fills the air
Peace and love live there still
In that mansion on the hill.

not to touch the earth
not to see the sun
nothing left to do but run run run let's run

house upon the hill
moon is lying still
shadows in the trees
witnessing the wild breeze
come on baby run with me

run with me
run with me
run with me
let's run

the mansion is warm at the top of the hill
rich are the rooms and the comforts there
red are the arms of luxurious chairs
and you won't know a thing till you get inside

the president's corpse in the driver's car
the engine runs on glue and tar
come on along not going very far
to the east to meet the czar

run with me
run with me
run with me
let's run

some outlaws live by the side of the lake
the minister's daughter's in love with the snake
who lives in a well by the side of the road
wake up girl we're almost home

we should see the gates by morning
we should be inside by evening
sun sun sun
burn burn burn
moon moon moon
i will see you
soon
soon
soon

i am the lizard king
i can do anything

Yeah! Come on, come on, come on, come on
Now touch me, baby
Can't you see that I am not afraid?
What was that promise that you made?
Why won't you tell me what she said?
What was that promise that you made?

Now, I'm gonna love you
Till the heavens stop the rain
I'm gonna love you
Till the stars fall from the sky for you and I

Bury Me Softly In This Womb
I Give This Part Of Me For You
Sand Rains Down And Here I Sit
Holding Rare Flowers
In A Tomb.....In Bloom

Down In A Hole And I Don't Know
If I Can Be Saved
See My Heart I Decorate It
Like A Grave
You Don't Understand Who They
Thought I Was Supposed To Be
Look At Me Now A Man
Who Won't Let Himself Be

In this hole
That is me
The dead are rolling over
In this hole
Thickening
Dirt shoveled over shoulders

I feel it in me
So overwhelmed
All this pressure centerizing
My life overturned
But there than despare
All these scars keep ripping open

Peel me from the skin
Tear me from the rind
Does it make you happy now?

Tear me from the bone
Tear me from myself
Are you feeling happy now?

In this hole
That is me
A life that's growing feeble
In this hole
So limiting
The sun has set; all darkens

Buried underneath
Hands slip off the wheel
Internal path-way to contention

Peel me from the skin
Tear me from the rind
Does it make you happy now?

Tear me from the bone
Tear me from myself
Are you feeling happy now?

Are you
HAPPY

Are you
HAPPY

Are you feeling happy?

In this hole
That is me
Left with a heart exhausted
What's my release??
What sets me free?
Do you pull me up just to push me out again?

Peel me from the skin
Tear me from the rind
Does it make you happy now?

Tear me from the bone
Tear me from myself
Are you feeling happy?

Peel me from the skiiiiiiiiiin
Peel me from the skiiiiiiiiiin
Tear me from the rind
Does it make you happy now?

Tear me from the boooooooooone
Tear me from the boooooooooone
Tear me from myself
Are you feeling happy?

Does it make you happy?
Are you feeling happy?
Are you ******* happy?
Now that I'm lost here with nothing

Does it make you happy?
Are you feeling happy?
Are you ******** happy?
Now that I'm lost here with nothing?

The greatest lost track of all time:
The Late Greats' "Turpentine"
You can't hear it on the radio
You can't hear it anywhere you go

The best band will never get signed
K-Settes starring Butcher's Blind
Are so good, you won't ever know
They never even played a show
You can't hear 'em on the radio

The greatest singer in rock and roll
Would have to be Romeo
His vocal chords are made of gold
He just looks a little too old

The greatest lost track of all time:
The Late Greats' "Turpentine"
I can't hear it on the radio
I don't hear it anywhere I go

The best song will never get sung
The best life never leaves your lungs
So good, you won't ever know
I never hear it on the radio
Can't hear it on the radio

Gotta drive all night if not a go
Got to designate a driver before the show
It's your turn now at the wheel
There's nothing like a guard rail
To wake you up in the middle of the night

And we are drivin' north, goin' south
It looks like we'll sleep here
We're out of beer
We're headed south on the north bound
Our wheels might as well be square
Cause we're not really getting anywhere
Tire just blew out, the fan belt's brakin'
I don't think we're gonna make it
Drivin' around, goin' down
It looks like we'll sleep here,
I need a beer

South, goin' south, check us out we're goin' south
South, headed south, check it out, we're goin' down
South, goin' south

oh i'm going down to mississippi
yes i'm going down a southern road
and if you never see me again
remember that i had to go
remember that i had to go

it's a long road down to mississippi
it's a short road back the other way
if the cops pull you over to the side of the road
well you won't have nothing to say
no you won't have nothing to say

there's a man waiting down in mississippi
and he's waiting with a rifle in his hand
and he's looking down the road for an out of state car
and he thinks that he's fighting for his land
yes he thinks that he's fighting for his land

and he won't know the clothes that i'm wearing
and he doesn't know the name that i own
but his god is large and his hate is hard
and he knows i'm coming down the road
yes he knows i'm coming down the road

oh it's not for the glory that i'm leaving
it's not trouble that i'm looking for
but there's lots of good work that's calling me down
and the waiting won't do no more
no the waiting won't do no more

don't call me the brave one for going
no don't pin a medal to my name
for even if there was any choice to make
i'd be going down just the same
i'd be going down just the same

for someone's gotta go to mississippi
just as sure as there's a right and a wrong
and even though you say that the time will change
that time is just too long
that time is just too long

so i'm going down to mississippi
oh i'm going down a southern raod
and if you never see me again
remember that i had to go
remember that i had to go
