Okay, so life officially sucks. My car is still dead (hopefully to come back to life in the near future, though!), my head is so stuffy and I can barely breathe thanks to this rotten cold that hit this weekend, and now... now... my temp agency calls me and lets me know that the job I was working at for the past three months no longer needs my services. ]:|

Apparently my audits weren't up to par... well, let me tell you ladies and gentlemen... if the powers that be keep changing the rule for data entry (and they did, sometimes weekly or even TWICE in one week), there's GOING to be mistakes! Blah. It's the stupidest thing, really.

I'm not sad to see this job go, but a steady job... yeah, this is gonna suck. I need to find a job soon, so I can you know... continue to pay bills and all that.

I needed the break, at least, so it's a good thing in a way. My fishies were getting less attention than they deserved, and I want to get back on top of things in that regard.

Stupid thing is that they don't tell me until AFTER I get home. I left stuff at my desk, and I have to get my timecard signed for the one day of work this week. It's just STUPID. They could have saved everyone the trouble and just told me BEFORE we left today. ]:|

I'm sorry things are sucky lately.

(Mike goes new age here and enters a trance)

There's a better job waiting for you and all you have to do is believe and the universe will provide. Make a list of the things you want in a job. Look and you will find it.

(Snaps out of trance)

Hope things start looking up.

Mike

Uh kitten honey, remember how you said at one time you wanted to be a teacher Well, with all the new "guests" in Houston I'm sure there are a few openings Want, me to look around I'm sure we could get you enrolled in a good ACP Heck, I know of a couple of teachers who need to figure out that you don't dismiss kids before the bell ringsand you figure out what you are teachingassuming that you are teaching:%)

Things will get better...Heck you need a day off to get rid of that nasty cold...but before you dogo in and get your stuffes tomorrow and be sure to sneeze/cough/blow snot on those that annoy you the most

Hugs, Heidi

I totally agree with Mike on this. I've been through the temp job thing many times over and now believe that things happen for a reason(the job in general sucked), there is a better job waiting for you around the corner. I know what you had was money etc etc but sometimes a change is what is needed.

Hope things look up for you.

Ugh! I think I'm going to just go hide under a rock somewhere. My mom let me borrow her car so that I could go back to the job and collect my belongings. All was going fine and dandy until I pulled out of the parking lot.

You guessed it... her car broke too!

I turn around the median to head out to the entrance and hit the gas... only to hear what to my untrained ears sounded like the trans falling out from under me. I mean, putting my foot on the gas resulted in all sorts of clattering, grumbling and general racket. At first I thought the engine just over revved itself and jumped gears, but apparently the problem is an altogether different area.

The freaking axle broke!

Don't ask me WHAT happened... it wasn't a very sharp turn because it's a big median and I wasn't going that fast. The car DOES have a lot of power (it's supercharged), so I did manage to get a squeal out of the tires without meaning to at all (and that's NOT going to the parental units, thank you... they don't appreciate that stuff), it was just what I'd normally do with MY car, which has much less power. Just the you know... "damn, I'm glad I'm out of that place, let's get out of here" type move. Trust me, I'm not the one to overwork the car on a normal basis.

In any case, the axle MAY have been the issue with the car in the first place (it's been making funny clunking sounds upon starting and stopping ever since it was fixed after my mom got broadsided), so in all reality all I did was force them to look at the car and fix it sooner, right?

Apparently the front axle is split... it's the right side that broke and spewed what looks like dijon mustard all over the inside of the engine compartment. *eww* My uncle, of course - and let's say it all together now - has the part just lying around in his garage. HOW he just HAPPENS to have all these pieces lying around is beyond me! You know, spare axles, engine mounts all that sort of fun stuff.

So yeah, I sit around and wait, blocking off half the exit to the parking lot (thankfully, I was just INSIDE the lot, not exited yet) and wait for my uncle, who just happened to have the week off. And get towed back home. And and and... I think I should get off the computer before I break The Beast, too!

ARGH.

I just cannot believe the crap luck I've been having lately.

This makes me believe in charms now, you know? I broke my hematite ring around the time my car died. Hematite is supposedly a protection against bad luck. And look at what all's going on now! I think I'll just sit tight until things look a little less bad-lucky!

Help me!

I'd get a new hematite ring or glue the old one. I'm not superstitious or anything but if it works, it works.

And think about it. Breaking your moms car wasn't really bad luck. You had the day off. Your uncle had the day off, the car is going to get fixed.

If you hadn't borrowed it the thing might have broke when your mom was driving it, miles away from where she needed to be and your uncle might have been unavailable.

It was good luck that broke the thing that was going to break at the most convieient time.

I'm going to the rock shop tomorrow... so, yeah, highly considering that, Mike. Maybe something that won't break on me, though. Maybe I'll thread a hematite onto a necklace or get some earrings or a ring SET with hematite instead of just a hematite band.

I totally agree that it really couldn't have happened at a better place (well, besides, like, in OUR driveway ) or time, really. It would have been completely scary to come grinding to a halt going 60 mph on the highway! It worked out and the car is fixed and at least in working order for now. Still needs some work, but at least it runs.

The axle turned out NOT to be the source of the thudding sound upon starting and stopping the car, but turns out that the axle WAS damaged back in the accident, but you couldn't tell until taking it apart.

Chris - yeah, gonna take it easy for a few days at least.

anyone think hematite might help If so when I finish with my inservice tomorrow i'm gonna find a bead shop and get some hematite beadsmaybe I'll get busy and make us bracelets

Anyways if I may add, my day sucketh as well:#(

I woke up plenty early, and left plenty early...but that is where my good day ended...before I could get to 225 (speed bump hwy these days)) the truck started with it's metal/tin sounding clacking when i hit the gas Did stall or die, but was only warning me, she wasn't happy...

I get on 225, drive 1/2 a mile and traffic stops]:|that's right STOPS! I'm like excuse me? we dont slow down here, much less stop]:| So for an hour I crawl (I drive a stick, should have pushed her for all it was worth) somewhere below 10 mph (that's the lowest the speedometer goes.) I call the AP and tell him I might be late, dont' know what the hold up is, but i'm not moving...he's lost somewhere downtown houston, jury duty...So I call the office to tell them, incase I'm late Ok I'm good, right...still driving 1-2 mph, but we're good Finally I get to the fly over to 610 loop, and see the problemit appears sometime between 10 pm last night and 6:45 this morning they didn't do anything necessarily to the road itself...but threw up cement barricades, turning 225 from a 6 lane hwy, to a 2 lane]:| Who in their right fricking or left fricking for that matter's; mind's idea was this? So we have all of rush hour that gets congested on 6 lanes of traffic trying to all crowd onto 2...don't know why we didn't even have 3...it's 2 lanes East, 2 lanes West, and 2 lanes I think North...guess i'm lucky that i was needing one of those still open? Keep in mind folks this was a merge situation, this was, hello road is gone situation]:| Finally made it to school at 7:45, 15 mins late...

Homeroom, well was homeroom, they didn't get the stickers on their folders till the afternoon, except those the teachers sent back to me to get them and they didn't get the yellow letter that was to go homeuh tomorrow, right?

First period, went way too fast

Second period, why do I have to have this class? Does that explain it? I'm finally getting enough room (4 kids moved to other classes) for everyone in that class to have a desk Yeah, finally noone sitting at my desk, and nobody sitting on the floor quit laughingI'm telling the truth...So I'm moving one young lady up who needs to be closer to see:88); I'm moving another off the floor, to a desk...another from my desk to the computer desk...another from my desk to another desk, and go to move one child up closer, he needs "help to maintain his attention to his work, and not mess with those around him". I'm saying, please move here, thank you. So and so, please move here, thanks...please go there, thanks, etc. I have to ask the nitwit at least 40 times (every 20-30 secs for 10 mins?) to please move, he never did ]:| then he had the guts to call me a uh something not nice or polite in Spanish...and threaten to kick another student's rear, but not with those words...and tries to tell me this is acceptable...well, after finally surviving that class, I type up a letter to his guardian, he has detention tomorrow after school, don't show it's the office, misbehave during that time--office, cont. to misbehave in class--office...I'm tired of fussing and fighting with him...does that sound fair?

Anyways the day continued like this, the book bag I like and use often, well the handle snapped off

So yes, kitten it's not just you...I spent 3 hrs here abouts getting an oil change--and all that goes with it, broke down and found out there is a different type they will do if you ask for vehicles that have more miles on them 120,000 next week I bet Top off the tank, and add the fuel injector cleaner stuff. And a new air filter...here's hoping she'll be happy tomorrow, and get me to and from work safe and sound...

So who else has had one of these days lately? They seem to be going around:#(
