Listen to Faith, Drown, or Break Stuff for just a couple examples. One is a remake of a pop rock song done by another artist, one is a ballad that is SANG, not rapped, and the last one is just a hard rock song. His band plays with instruments, not just electronically, and he sings. Sure sounds like rock to me. If you don't like him, congratulations, but I could have sworn part of the reason we were doing this thread this way was specifically because the decision would NOT be made by the thread creator. And for the record, metallica, Linkin Park, and System of a Down ALL rap in more than one of their songs, but there's no dispute as to them being considered a rock band. Again, we have to remember that you're the one who considered a joke (Tenacious D) done by a comedian a band in your first thread along this line...

EDIT:Also, just thought I'd ask, what was the last rock song the Beastie Boys did? You know, since they were in your first thread also...

No personal touches by the creator to leave out a band just because you or anyone else doesn't particularly like them. If you don't like them, vote them out, just like it was designed for...

Again, YOU'LL remember that I got the list off of another website (specifically, smogon). If you don't like the choice, let them know, and not me. Many of the choices in the previous thread would be considered "folk", rather than rock---the list does not comprise, necessarily, of "rock" bands. I agree, though, the Beastie Boys should not be listed under the rock nomencalture.

If you're an ardent, die-hard LB fan, congratulations, but I could've sworn that I never stated that I disliked them; in fact, I have Chocolate Starfish. And, for the record, by your reasoning, one could chuck in Brittney Spears into the mix, as some of her songs have undeniable overtones of what is to be referred to as "rock".

Furthermore, more than their fair share of Durst's material is rap. This would be considered a large majority. As many notorious "rap" artists vary their musical palette with both vocal tracks and their non melodic bread and butter, Durst achieves somewhat of the same effect. This is not only my personal opinion: one kazaa search of limp bizkit yields many songs, most of which are listed under the "rap" categorical dropdown. The verdict stands.

If you don't want me to refer to the previous list, that's fine, how about this then:

List a band (preferrably encompassed within the rock/related genre).

It's almost like that quote FROM YOUR INITIAL POST IN THIS THREAD doesn't require that the band be rock. All it says is preferrably rock. Seems to me that such a statement would leave the door wide open to a band that's NOT rock...

What is the big deal with including Limp Bizkit? It's obvious that there are at least some people on the site who don't like them and most likely they'll get voted out VERY quickly, so why not just include them and admit that they fall into a group of loopholes between your own statements and a definition of rock that doesn't exist?

Again I don't dislike them to any great extent, and again, many share my belief that they are not of the said genre (if any rock at all, they'd have to be watered down indie or something). If you must continue to whine about it, I will add them, so yes, you win. Congratulations.

I beg to differ. Freedom of choice was NOT what you were posting about, IYRC. Perhaps you meant to, but most of the bickering stemmed from you questioning my musical proficiency in genre placement (once again, it is my topic, so, yeah). To bring a long story to a close, you were arguing over something that, frankly, doesn't concern you, and insisted in second guessing LB's admission. Call it what you want; I call it whining. You have plenty of choices, though, so I can't imagine why it would matter to you at all. Wrong was the exclusion of a band for personal preference (and I know you say you like them, but it's still your preference that they be excluded for any reason). Right was that you actually follow the rules you set for the thread. Simple as that...

I haven't taken any personal shots at you or your ability to select music. The only things I have argued or quoted are actual things that have been said and done. I haven't referred to any of your choices as bad or used any other term that could be construed as personally insulting you. Instead, I have only assessed the decisions you've made, stated, and performed. Therefore, I don't think that anything I've done is whining...
