Ugh. I am down on my luck. I was working two jobs and going to school. I quit on for a job that paid less but all I had to do was stand there Last week they called and I lost my job! Ugh....

Job-hunting is a full-time job. You can always do what I do and apply everywhere (I filled out 120 apps in one week ^_^) It sounds stupid but it works...

Congrats on quiting though, that does take guts!

Moondog, you are very welcome here and I will help you get a job. But I am not sure if you will be able to survive on a 3rd world country's salary I know I find it too little at times.

I picked up my first offer letter today, and I am going to get another one on Friday. I cant wait to get my hands on it /:'

I guess the Americans always reason that your expenses are equivalent somewhat to salary igh: I know better, but it is a nice thought to be able to escape to some other country when we are so darn spoiled that most couldnt do it.

i actually have been having some luck lately with jobs, hopefully at least one of them comes through for me very very soon.

Ahhhh.... wipe your blood shot eyes now. No need to cry. Take that time to reflect on what job you want to do next. Plan ahead. But first, if you can afford it, take some time off to think about your past jobs and what did not work. 3 or 4 weeks should be enough. In the mean time, you could flood this forum with helpful / sometimes humourous / sometimes not so funny comments. And what about your fish? You can take time to watch them, care for them and whatnot.

If you can afford the time off, make it worthwhile and enjoy it. No sense in crying all that time over a job that took advantage of you from what I understand.

You can do it. Smile and be HAPPY !

Sponge

thank you clowny. it must have worked because suddenly i am getting noticed again. i have a job almost completely lined up right now and two others i am hoping come through for me first. the one i'm positive i'm getting is not exactly what i want to do, but it's in the field and is pretty close to what i was making before. the other two would be pay raises *and* closer to my career goals, so i am very much hoping at least one of them wants me to start soon.

Sounds exactly like my situation. The first job I got was not exactly what I wanted to do, but this 2nd offer is a pay hike, a designation hike, and exactly what I want to do

I am not even interviewing for the 3rd job, because its too far away, and the company is not so stable.

Now I only need to let down the other 2

Clowny sounds like you have a good line of communication going. Thingz looking up since you sent one up for Moondawg. Can you say one for me. Although not an interview I have a meeting tomorrow with someone I would like to work with on the main campus (I work for the graduate School so not strictly on campus).

This guy did some training for my company so I am going to go and speak with him and show him some samples of my work. Maybe if they have something they will advertise it as an external position since I don't qualify to apply for internal roles. Tricky.

Networking & hoping something may come of it.

Sounds entreprising, but with a name like "Wish-ga" do you think you need good wishes from anybody???

On a different note, I think everybody needs good wishes...

"Sends up a li'l prayer for Wish-ga"

I hope I am not too late :%)

well, you must have gotten some good forces in motion for me clowny, because i just got called to come in to do a better position than the first one i already have, even though it's for about the same pay. and they want me to start ASAP instead of on the 6th. i'm still holding out for one of the other jobs to work out for me though, hopefully they will call me in as well

Moondog... great news. I hope some of that clowny-ness rubs off on me. She is charmed. The power of pr***er [not allowed to talk religion here].

My meeting went very well. Fingers crossed (or palms together under chin if you are that way inclined). Chris said to be patient as there is nothing at this very minute but I have no doubt something will eventuate. He also said he would talk to a few people about me & my skills.

I will keep my eye on the positions vacant ads for any jobs in his section...And at least he knows about the little situation I had last year when I was offered a position then it was retracted becasue I did not count as an internal candidate. Now they know they may have to advertise the job in a certain way so I am eligable to apply. Kewl

well, mine called me back two hours later to say they needed someone who could start tomorrow (literally) and i told them i can't just walk away from my part time job like that, as much as i hate working there. that's ok though, cause their pay scale was not quite what i should be making for that position and would have been much less in the long run unless they hired me permanently right away, which isn't gonna happen. so i still have a few other irons in the fire, and there are always jobs out there to be had.
