Okay, so I did it. I walk into work, its the first Monday after New Year. I always wanted to quit my job on the first Monday after New Year and I did it.

Now I feel a little bit stupid, but I am grossly underpaid and do too much work for what little I get :#(

I have complained to my boss twice and all I get in return for my compaints are pathetic excuses about not having been able to assess my salary according to market standards so I decided it was better to give myself a break. Now I am have no idea what I am going to at home all by myself with all the time in the world

Look in the mirror tomorrow morning.

Say to yourself ... "I. DESERVE. BETTER."

Now go and get it.

That's great that you took the courage to quit. Getting out of the grind for a little while should help you feel better. Do you think you'll look for a new job? I know you said that things were very competitive in your city, is there anything open that you've been looking at?

it's always rough the first few weeks till you can find a good job. don't know if india has the same calendar as the rest of us, but if you do at least you're outside the holidays now. i've been hanging on waiting for the year to end so that i can start interviewing for jobs again.

Good for you!!! I wish I had 1/2 the courage it took for you to do that. Although, I am very happy in my current job, I have had jobs (one in particular) that took advantage of me and my ability with NOTHING in return. I did not have the courage to say ANYTHING as I was not the only "victim" of this behavior, until a fued with the Production Manager who would not let me be with my Mother at the Hospital the day of her sergery... I was there until 2 weeks before my contract ended.

Good Luck in whatever you choose....

I am sure there is something better waitng for you Clowny.

Good on you for getting out of there of your own accord. Some people never get out of a job they dont like. Its awful being stuck in a job where you are not appreciated.

Its a hard and scary thing to do but it will turn out for the best.

Now they are trying to add insult to injury. They didnt wait 24 hours before sending out an Internal Job Posting opportunity to fill my position. Hah!!! And I thought they would want to retain me for all the work I have done. I have often heard my boss say - "If anybody has worked with you for over 2 years, you need to classify them in a To Retain or Not to retain list. I guess I am in the not to retain list.

Good Riddance of Bad rubbish I say. Am I scared, I am very scared. I have no idea what I am going to do after this job. Hopefully, I will find my calling and do something much better with my life than wasting it away with a bunch of morons. Keep that advice coming, I am going to need all of those encouraging words.

GO CLOWNY!

You know, I'll bet the only reason that they are letting you go is because they know that when a strong woman makes up her mind, there ain't nobody gunna stop her

You'll be brilliant! You are skilled, determined, a fantastic conversationalist, excellent typist, your english is wonderful and you are independant yet still devoted to your family. Honestly, I couldn't think of a better type of employee and anyone who thinks otherwise is just playing silly buggers

You are worthy of a fantastic job, and I'd say it'll find you

And on a totally selfish note, does this mean we lose the pleasure of your company for a while?

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

Did I say above, "you deserve better"???

If after all the work you put in, they just decided to toss your legacy out with the trash, then I'd say yes. You deserve MUCH better.

And, I'm sure there's at least one enlightened outfit out there that knows a good proposition when presented with one - the good proposition being you working for them on twice your old money

Hey, they'd be getting a BARGAIN ...

Come to think of it, there's probably a couple of companies here in the UK who would take on an experienced IT person with a decent CV. Of course, it's a bit far to travel, and you'd HATE our winters (if you ended up in Manchester you'd hate British weather all year round ) but who knows ...

Of course, there's one other option. Become a Bollywood starlet and become rich

Hehe, Bollywood starlet. All those dance numbers, I am going to faint *faints*

Well, since I dont get much sleep these days because of the stress, I decided to write a diary of a soon to be unemployed person and what I do over the next 30 days while I scramble to find a job. If it turns out well, I will sell it to some local newspaper. I am trying to make it funny eventhough I have a terrible sense of humour :%)

In the meantime, all the different managers at work are wanting to talk to me with their own hidden agendas. Some want me to escalate the matter and make the boss suffer, and I want this too, but I also need a reference from this place, so I am going to keep my cool. If they want to escalate, they are free to do so. Others who I am not on good terms with are threatening me with various things to keep my mouth shut about the internal politics. One very strange threat I received yesterday evening -

"If anybody in the market finds out you have resigned, you will not get a job"

Like the world outside is constantly waiting for the latest update on my career and besides, I have never been warned, or asked to leave from any place I have worked at

I am trying to put the funny things people say to you instead of a nice warm goodbye on paper 10 years, or 20 years, or maybe even 50 years down the line when I am finally able to laugh at this I want to look back and see how trivial and unimportant this change was compared to the rest of my life.

And David, you told me I deserve better. Guess what, I am going to get it

And on a totally selfish note, I dont have a computer at home, but I have an internet cafe close by, so I wont be on chat too much. In the afternoon I should be able to catch up with the Aussie folks, so Calla, I might see you on chat, though why its so dead these days I dont understand.

My friends in the US of A should see a steady stream of posts from me. I will also have some time to learn how to use that new camera of mine [img src='/images/forums/halo.gif' border=0]

That was a silly thing for them to say. I think it puts you in strong position. You are the one picking and choosing your next move. You decided you wanted to move on and are doing so. That person was floundering, like they know anything!

Go gettem!

I got one, I got one, I got one Bangs pot lids in glee. This one is called Asst Manager - Process Change and is in the building right next to my current job and the salary is 50% higher

I faxed all my documents to them today and they should make an offer in a day or two. I simply cannot wait to take that offer letter and show it to my boss. Hehe, a job within two weeks of resigning, now I need a few good words that will help me rub it in [img src='/images/forums/halo.gif' border=0]

Awww, So ur still holding out for another job Moondog. If I were you, I would have prolly taken it, because sometimes u have to compromise on salary to get a better position. I am doing that too, eventhough this new job pays 50% more than my current sal, its not paying as much as it should

I hope you get the job you want!!!

I dont kno about clownyness, but this thread is definitely magical and I think pr****s work too
