Hi there,
I have strep throat/tonsilitis,
and am wondering if anyone has any
good home remedies to treating the
darn painful burning throat?
I have been doing the gargle with warm
salt water thing but it doesnt seem
to be helping!
Anyone got any advice?

Popsicles, hot tea. Keep doing the salt water gargle, the salt is good for healing.
I feel for you, I had strep + abscessed tonsil about a year ago and had a reaction to the antibiotics, lost 25 pounds.

Popsicles and ice cream will help temporarily. I hope you got some antibiotics. That will atleast make it go away.

I don't know anything that will make the sore throat go away. Strep just makes you feel awful. I hope you get better soon!

I am going to the doctor tomorrow,
so should get some antibiotics.
Im afraid though cuz my boyfriend
keeps saying "wow those look like
they will need to come out".
That would suck!

I have found the salt to work it takes a lot of salt to have a good effect, and it's funny that DaMossMan said Mela-fix, I have used tea-tree oil for sore throats and it helps with the pain. 2-5 drops in some warm water, gatgle and spit! Tea-Tree oil is from the melaleuca tree, sound familiar? It should, it is the main ingredient in Mela-Fix!

Lemon tea, hot chocolate and strangely enough dill pickle chips(salt) and cola(CO2) also seem to help but that could just be me!

For natural fighting look for Echinacea with Goldenseal in tincture form, tastes horrible but it boosts the immune system to fight infections. Siberian or Canadian Ginseng is also good at boosting the immune system or if you want to spend more try Cold FX, it may be too late now though, but it helps at the beginning to get the body's defenses up.
