LMuha![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 908 Kudos: 1144 Votes: 183 Registered: 17-Mar-2003 ![]() ![]() | A professor at a university in NY is conducting a survey that he hopes will help determine the status of diamondback terrapins here in the U.S. I thought I'd pass the information along, since aquarium hobbyists wind up in areas where the terrapins might be found: INFORMATION NEEDED ON DIAMONDBACK TERRAPINS If you have ever seen terrapins in the wild, please fill out an on-line survey about the current and past status and range of the diamondback terrapin (_Malaclemys terrapin_). Also please spread the news of this survey to any other appropriate person. The survey is at http://people.hofstra.edu/faculty/russell_l_burke/terrapins/terrapindistribution.htm, or you can request a paper version from the address below. Historically the diamondback terrapin has been reported in salt marshes and mangrove swamps from Cape Cod, MA to Corpus Christi, TX. They are perhaps most commonly seen basking or crossing roads to nest. Your help is greatly appreciated.
