It will be used semi-frequently (As my roommate has a cat that I am allergic to). I have all hard wood floors and some area rugs, so nothing too high powered that it will leave my rugs in shambles. Any suggestions? *I have a small upright vacuum now that works on the hard wood floors and gets SOME stuff off the rugs but it doesn't trap cat hair very well and doesn't really leave the rugs with the "Freshly Vacuumed Look".* "it's the neck, it creaks under the weight of too much heavy thinking." |

The little Hoover Conquest is good, but looking on the US sites, thats an upright over there (over here its a cute little vacuumy hosey nozzley one) so maybe the Miele dog&cat? |

The dyson is relatively small and lightweight for an upright. It also has settings for floors instead of carpet. It was a bit pricey though. I think I paid around 500 for it a year or so ago but I think they've come down in price since then. |

We have over 200 cats and that thing picks up a ton of hair and is amazingly easy to empty. By far the best vacuum. "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man" Simpsons |

It is odd how people have started thinking its normal to pay £300 for a vacuum. Ill pay an extra £260 just so I dont need to empty a bag. NOT. It may be cool to have no loss of suction, but then again the essential bit with picking up animal hair is usually the quality of the brushes. |
