some aussie surfers should be able to throw a few onto here. Guy I sit next to at work logs on and checks out the surf before driving to the beach after work for a surf. A number of surf beaches have a cam set up so you can log on and check out the surf first.

Here is a Surf Cam but it does world wide cities as well there is one camera about 30min drive on our surf coast "Portsea"
