Ya she is a cute one. She is a small female Blue Acara. It seems to be her spot when she isn't out and about.

Good pic

The smaller acaras are actually called 'smiling', Laetacara comes from the Latin word laetus which means happy

Lovely pic Needeles. Reminds me of the Parrot Cichlids sold here that has this constant smile, but sadly, they are hyrbrid fishes and do not last very long in aquariums...

I beg to differ bleeder! My husband had his 4 blood red parrot fishes for 4 years, and gave them up to pursue a different set up for his aquarium! They were supurb and extremely healthy, even laid eggs(even though they were fertile!) SO........use your statement as an opinion!

72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up
75 gallon: A. Baenschi trio,Cyanotilapia Afra Cobwe(4), copadichromis trewavase, protomelas sp. tangerine tiger(breeding pair)

Honestly so Tanya. I will reserve my views as an opinion, but then again, you sound like an experienced fishkeeper. Perhaps those found here are inbred so often that they are susceptible to diseases and poor water conditions. They are definitely not the kind of fishes for beginners...

actually a friend of mine had two blood parrots, they spawned, and the eggs were viable. still has some of the fry if i recall. He's taken down the pics of the offspring, but blood parrots can definitely spawn and have fertile eggs.
