Just thinking this as opened a packet of potato chips - Why, when you open them, they are always half empty...????? This really upsets me...

Becuase it costs less to pump a bag full of air, than it is to make enough chips to filld the bag.

Also by having the bag filled mostly with wait helps lower the amount of chips that are crushed during transit.

If it costs less to half fill a bag, why not save even more money by making smaller bags.. you'd save on plastic/ink AND air!! Brilliant!!

The point about the chips crushing with less air is a good one. If they really packed them in they would be smushed. Unless you want uniformly stacked chips... don't know if you've noticed, but Pringles cans always come full.
