I vary according to mood between old rock for average days, hair rock , mainstream metal and nu metal for cheerful days, gothic rock for the late nights mixed with a little satanic rock or death metal.Thats even interspersed with the blues and a lil bit of country too, metal is really indivisible from country and the blues in many ways, its really where the musical roots of it come from. I listen to some odd stuff too, if its different or original I will probably like it,it doesnt have to be rock, but it definately mustnt , be , pop, rap, or rave, that stuff makes me homicidal. All their spouting about rocking, etc just annoys me as its highjacking words from an unrelated genre for a type of music incredibly inferior in performance level, subtlety, and technical ability, not to mention melody. Its like using words like anthemic to describe something that only classic music, blues and rock have really attained so far. The devaluement of terms to impress 12 year old doesnt impress me. Rap especially annoys me because a lot of it is racist or segregational, I wouldnt tolerate that in a rock song, and thankfully most rock steers away from that tendancy these days. I can only feel so much guilt for being white, and im sick about people spouting on about how poor they were, especially when now they appear to all have multi-million dollar cribs, and actually destroy any integrity the music had by constant product advertising. Rap has gone from alternative , to mainstream, to poor, to total sellout. For me it peaked about the same time that breakdancing was big, and run dmc were still fairly new. Now it just sucks. Rock may have had its fair share of comedy and glam rock numbers, but at least theres still a lot of it out there that you can listen and relate to as an adult. As minimalist art has its limited pallete , so does rap, and I prefer stuff to be a little more complex to keep me awake.
Legendary is something written about in the iliad and the oddessey the koran and the bible. It does not apply to music. Music is good or not

Im too old to get segregated beween faiths in rock styles, especially since I dont read music press, dont bother with videos, and I never follow chart trends. I like songs making their way to me naturally then whatever the age they can become timeless, and enjoyed free of preconception. Fashionability in music just stops you enjoying it. Good music always has a genius of its own and should be enjoyed for its own sake.

Its like singles charts that are representitive of nothing, the marker on what constitutes gold and platinum albums has been quartered at least by now, theres charts for every concievable type and context all of which are voted for by people stupid enough to send a text message costing a buck or two for the right to express a totally unimportant opinion. Inevitably most people who vote are an average of 10 -15 years old. Its not remotely representitive of the listening public. Most people I know will listen to rock even if its not their chosen music , as indeed they might like classical too, or 80's stuff. But the one thing most of the people I know will do with rap is quite simply turn it off, quoting it to be " a bloody noise".

To each their own though i suppose, i guess theres always personalcontext to be applied to music , and people use it for their own desires. I cant imagine actually wanting rap or rave to be the soundtrack to my life, but i suppose there will be people who dream of gangsta cred, drive by shootings and "bling" who will want to. There will , I suppose be people who want to get monged in a field for three days listening to a set of songs with exactly the same beat ,pretending that drug-induced jerking and waving one hand in the air while holding the a perrier bottle in the other hand is dancing. Its up to them, but personally I always engoyed the soulfulness of a rock ballad or the rush and thrill of a huge rock concert where the upliftingness and oneness of the audience in appreciation of the awesome power of noise and skilled solos, powerful rock voices, and melodic play with big noises still left them feeling- "DAMN that was good, how do they do that?" Fabulous. Roooooock! Know what I mean? That was music.

Sometimes I pre-empt chart success for a band or a record by years and months , and sometimes a rediscovered oldie is the best thing ive heard.

Rock is dead , yeah riiiight. You wouldnt believe how many chavs , popsters and hardcore ravers ive seen turn back into rockers over the last two years, its really funny. One minute they were in pink hipsters and blonde ponytails with hoodies being a general public menace, and the next thing you know theyre all covered in tattoos , piercings, and denying they ever listened to anything else. Some of them even start reading books and talking and typing in something other than monosyllabic fashion.

As the man in black at the back of every room I find the whole thing really funny. Bah, when you get to over 30 youll see what I mean. So im an old rocker .Its kinda funny how kids assume their parents know nothing about music too, as if the only good songs were produced in the last two weeks. Ironic considering this 12 year old authority on music has an average of 6 cds, and their parent has a few thousand in the back room.

So in answer to which rocker am I ? Well obviously I am the god of hellfire... and I briiing youuuuuu....

....fire... Lol.

Im your average , all purpose ,rap hating, pop hating generalist rocker.
Except christian rock, I hate that, it just doesnt feel right does it? Nothing against christians, but somehow christian rock feels like its missing the point a bit."praise the lord - heres tony sixkiller-baby-eater, satanically tatood and swastickered smith on geeeeetaaaar.". Thats just wrong . Dont do it Hymns and gospel do that particular job rather better.

Please note , I dont go around saying "AWESOME" all the time. Im as british as Hugh Grant, and frankly it would be churlish of me to adopt a surfer/skateboarder kind of california beach language, I dont spend my life catching tubes or doing 720's. In fact when I am out doing what I like to be doing , namely wildlife photography, I rarely shout out "awesome" when I get a good piccy. It would scare the animals. I find being quietly smug perfectly sufficient.

Its like going up to Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame and saying HEEEEY MAAAAN THAT WAS AWEEEESSOOOOOOMMME."

He will frown at you, and go off to tend his roses, possibly while enjoying the fortifying benefits of a nice cup of Earl Grey.

Noticeably though, the man rocks rather well , better in fact than many before him, or indeed, since. He has no requirement for those around him to wear white facepaint and have piercings, nor I suspect is he worried about the rise in internet piracy, or wanting to appear in nike commercials. If you ask if you can see his "crib" the most likely answer will be... "what the hell is a crib ? Go away im busy.)" and if you open his fridge he will have a few slabs of meat, an old cabbage , some milk and couple of tims of beer just like everyone else. In addition the fridge doesnt have searchlights in it, or an automated sony aibo controller that brings you a case of crystal champagne to wherever you may be in the house. The same can also be said of Ian Gillan (remember deep purple anyone?) with whom I once I had a perfectly pleasant drink in a pub in lyme regis.

I rather like them for that. Substance over style.

WOW!
Way to go Premie! Love the red, and nice avatar too.
So what kind of wildlife pictures do you take, peaceful or wild hunt stuff?

I like pretty much anything that sounds good, has a beat and I can yell along with. I'll put Nickelback (CDN, gotta have it) and linkin park together, seether and Matchbox 20, I know, crazy. New rock, old rock, "I wanna rock and roll all night, and party every day!", I like music, any way shape or form, celtic, classical, alternative, pop (ducks), rock, even country. I like it all.

Furthermore, though I prefer softer stuff (mostly prog.), Priest is alright, and I'm big on Deep Purple, so I suppose I'll vote A.

Also I skipped over this tidbit while skimming your post;

"The same can also be said of Ian Gillan (remember deep purple anyone?) with whom I once I had a perfectly pleasant drink in a pub in lyme regis."

Bear my children, LHG.

Um, guys, there's a logistical problem here...

Ha ha I know there's dozens of categories one could put music into, all highly subjective and probably pointless. I am all over the map myself...metallica, Sarah Mclachlan, "hard" classical (not the fruity Bach stuff), The Pixies, Cocteau Twins, some Green Day, Linkin Park, Etta James, Janis, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Ozzy/Black Sabbath, Sade, Enigma, Iron Maiden, Sam Cooke, Kate Bush, Liz Phair...a small sampling.
If it gives me goosebumps, it's good. If it makes me want to yell, it's good. If it makes me feel like I'm floating in the ocean, it's good.

luvmykrib I tend to take portraits of animals,or animals in context with their habitat, unfortunately the camera I have pretty much limits me to that at the moment, I need something much faster for the action shots. I will get an eos mark 2 if it kills me ...
