I'm sure by now everybody all over the world has heard and see the devistation that happened in the Southern US. But I'm just curious if anybody has seen or heard about anybody asking for or collecting donations to help out the people who where affected? plus i'm sure its still alittle soon for anybody to start this yet.

now i'm not doing this to start trouble. i'm just curious, since we have alot of friends on here world wide and since i cant see tv or dont know which news papers are in different parts of the world, i thought this would be a way to ask.

Hi monkeyboy, as a matter of fact American Red Cross]http://www.redcross.org[/link] is currently taking donations for relief, and I'm sure FEMA will start asking if they haven't already. I know the local radio station I listen to primarily [link=KRBE is also taking donations...it is out of Houston, but it seems the Houston population has increased just slightly (roughly estimating 55,000) since Sunday. I'm sure there are others though who else I can't say for sure...

I'm trying to post and keep people up to date as much as I can on cali's head count thread

wow, talk about an increase. but yea, people i work with now have family in houston . i myself am waitin to hear on my uncle, his wife, 2 sons, my cousin, his wife and other relatives that live in baton rouge. but with phones down and dont have his cell, we're stuck

i heard the red cross did here, fema i'm sure will next. our radio stations usually start a day or 2 after, but the local tvs and other charitys are all ready set to move in. i myself with a friend of mine is taking a few boxes of food to give. i'd love to give money, but with gas prices, i can only give what i can.

but i was just curious about everwhere else thanks in advance to everybody who does help

just wanted to say beware of any charities calling you up for money. a lot of scammers take this time to try to get you to give them money. if you like the charity they claim to be supporting, you should hang up with the telemarketer and call the charity directly or else a portion of your funds may not get where it's supposed to go.

I've seen everything from red cross (they have some charity concert going on tonight... saw a clip of it as my mom was channel surfing) to jars at most every store. Petco and Sam's club are two stores with donation jugs at the registers that I can name off the top of my head.

I wish I could do something to help, but I'm scrounging around just to get my car fixed. So stupid... need money to fix the car so I can GET to work to earn money.
