for value, there are grades of value depending on how good the condition of the coin is and whether or not it has any flaws in it. it also matters if they are "real" coins or "proof" coins. if they are the proof style, then they were not meant for circulation and are worth more. the only thing i can suggest is to either go to a shop that deals with magazines and see if they have a price guide, or go to a local coin shop and ask them to help you price them. they may try to get you to sell them but they will have a better idea what you have.

I collect old coins... Mainly ones that I find in circulation, but I do buy them occasionally.

I've found a nickel from 1900 in circulation, in good condition. Among the many Wheat Pennies I've found, I have a 1911-S in very fine condition (worth about $50).

vinegar and salt cleans corrosion very well. Just be sure to rinse and dry them afterwards or they'll be worse off than when you started.

Websites I can't help with, but there are plenty of American coin magazines and price books which cover pretty much all U.S. coins. There should be literature for Australian currency as well. A library or hobby shop should have books, or you can always just check out a coin shop like Moondog suggested. It's good stuff.

I collect old coins here and there from what's in circulation.. I used to go to stamp/coin shows when a kid.
Haven't bought any for years, but check my pocket change lol. It's amazing what you find sometimes.

Rinse and dry well (even let stand for a day to ensure complete dryness) then wrap individually to prevent scratching... Foil works well.

I'd go with a book first to get a rough idea on value before getting it appraised in a coin shop.
Good luck !
