what do the numbers for ur blood pressure mean, i have a 122/74 so what does this mean.

well, it depends on your age, risk factor, weight, medication, etc. Generally, according to the Blood Pressure Assoc of GB, high blood pressure is pressure over 140/90 consistently.

It depends on what you were doing before the test as well. For example, i got my BP done after my asthma peak flow, and the peak flow test raised my bp.

If you are concerned, you should get an appointment with your GP or practice nurse to discuss it.

Basically, your numbers mean your are normal and should attempt to maintain a healthy diet and minimise your risk factors to stay that way

BP readings are given as 2 numbers, your systolic blood pressure (122) and your diastolic blood pressure (74).

Without getting into too much detail, systolic blood pressure is the measurement of the force exerted on the walls of your arteries as your heart is contracting.

Diastolic pressure, is therefore the measurement of the force exerted while your heart is relaxing.

Optimal BP is <120/80.

mine used to be extremely low, 90 over 40... dunno what it is now, that was several years ago.

122/74 isn't too bad, just try to get appropriate exercise and eat right and everything to keep it from going up...

Some peoples are naturally as low as Tim's (my Mom's is similar and mine runs 110/50)but it can be not good if someone's is normally higher.

90/40 is a little worrisome indeed... that's a little too low.

Of course, most young people should have a BP of 120/80 or better.
