They're doing it in the UK, more and more things are being added to Cat 3 (display only)

What would be good woul dbe a national licensing scheme where you took a safety test and were then licensed to buy fireworks, rather than just banning them.n

They're legal here in Texas, providing that you don't fire them off within the city limits.. If you're caught with them within the city limits they're confiscated and usually you'll get slapped with a rather hefty fine..

Same rules apply in most states of Australia..Still very easy to get though.

Same in Georgia and Nebraska, but in both states you just head over the border into Alabama, Tennesee, or Missouri and it is perfectly legal in those states so you buy them and drive home.

For people foreign to the US, it might sound weird to have it so heavily mandated, but still so easy to get, but that is the way it is.

Same here in Nova Scotia, Canada. Illegal to the public, you have to have a special license to operate a show.

Fireworks are 100% illegal here in California, no exceptions unless you are setting up a public show that has been authorised by the state.

Good thing I go to Louisiana all the time, however, so I can get my firework fix. They are legal every where, all the time down there because Louisiana is just a giant flame-retardant marsh (literally).

Nothing like blowing up a huge fire ant nest on a July afternoon...

Being a Canadian, I will respond.
In my province, British Columbia,
fireworks are strictly illegal except at
certain times of year.
Those times for us here are
July 1st - Canada Day
Oct 31st - Halloween
Dec 31st - New Years eve

I am pretty sure that is it. Oh, and you legally
cannot set off fireworks in a large open space with no trees. It is not safe. You must set off fireworks in your own small yard with many trees where it is not at all safe,
or so said a nice young lady cop to us on this past halloween.
