this is great, everybody here at my work in Auburn Hills, MI went nuts over it. gesh some people need to leave the gene pool.

Mid Michigan — (07/19/05)--Long lines at local gas stations and people trying to gas up before it costs $3 a gallon. Are prices really going to skyrocket so quickly or even at that cost?

Drivers lined up down the block Tuesday, hurrying to fill up before the price goes up to $3 a gallon. It was a great day for gas station owners, but it's simply not true.

Gas prices aren't going to go up to $3 a gallon.

It appears it's a rumor that started Saturday in Midland where Wal Mart is building a gas station.

Workers were testing a price sign and put up $3.03 a gallon, not thinking anybody would take it seriously.
But apparently, some people saw that and told other people, and the rumor spread like wildfire.

Stories are circulating from across the state, from Bay City to Owosso. There are stories of long lines of cars and trucks, and people trying to beat the price hike that won't happen.

A representative from a petroleum operation in Lansing says he's heard the rumors as well, and says the most the price has ever gone up in a single day is 20 cents a gallon, and certainly not 70 cents a gallon

gas by me is alot, but i can cross the bridges and go to NJ and get gas at like 2 $ per gallon.

a few weeks ago i paid $40 for 7.3 gallons of gas.

I will do the math for you: $5.45 a gallon.

if you actually paid $5.45/g for gas, then you need to move out of there vic

a similar thing to that story happened here on 9/11. there was a rumor that either minneapolis or chicago was selling gas for anywhere from $4 to $6 per gallon and people just went crazy and lined up for hours and hours at the gas stations. one station down the road from me got in a little trouble because they rasied their prices THREE TIMES during this run on gas, trying to either cash in on the run or discourage people from lining up. but by wisconsin state law, a gas station is only allowed to change their price ONCE in a 24 hour period. afaik there were no official charges filed against the station.

yup same here on 9/11. some stations went up to $5 for all brands. and now if they do this, which will happen in the story above. they will get fined and maybe closed down.

Here is australia it went up to $1.21AU per liter.......
let's see....

$4.58AU per gallon
$3.46US per gallon



and about 3 or 4 years ago it was 66.9c per liter
let's see again ....

$2.53AU per gallon
$1.91US per gallon

Do u see the difference? I do!

one major difference that helps our prices compaired to europe and australia and other non producing countrys is the fact that we produce part of what is used. so i guess it would help with our prices. either way. this is to high for anybody anywhere
