yesterday morning a family of ducklings were visiting our pond. later that day they left without 2 of the ducklings. i captured them and asked for advice, everybody said to realese them with another family of the same size. so i took them to a river and relesed them. there were three moms with two familys of ducklings. they swam to them but the moms wouldnt except them and the other ducklings were actually much bigger then the 2. all of them would peck at the 2 but they wouldnt stop it was hard to watch.did they survive????

They will probably stick close to the other two, and since there were two abandoned ones, they will keep each other warm.

Its about 60-40 that we lost them, but all in all not bad odds.

are you sure the mother wasn't coming back for them?

Of course they're dead.
Adding smaller ducklings to an unrelated group of larger ducklings + adult birds is asking for trouble.
