I prefer filled pasta; tortellini, ravioli, shells, etc.

Other than that, I do enjoy bow ties. Following that, linguine, then fetticini (spelling?).

IMO, it's the sauce, not the pasta that really makes the dish. Lemon pepper cream, alfredo, and just EVOO with capers are amongst my favorite.

bowtie and penne are my favorites. all pasta fanatics should check out http://www.carinos.com and see if there's a restaraunt in your area. this is a fairly new chain that is along the lines of Olive Garden but is 100 times better. I think my favorite dish is the Spicy Shrimp and Chicken...Shrimp and Chicken sauteed in spicy romano cream sauce with green onions, sundried tomatoes and mushrooms.

Although it is kinda hard to eat your own . I looooooveeee past too it's about the only thing I eat ...okay well and bread and rice but same thing.

Absolute favorite is a home made cheese sauce over elbows ...for some reason I dont really like spaghetti and really dont like angel hair....I think it's cause I never liked my moms spaghetti sauce .

Great ....NOW I'm hungry ....*wanders off for second breakfast*

I am a pasta addict Every day that the spouse isn't here my main meal is pasta based...tomato sauce, various salad dressings, salsa, cheese sauce, veggie and/or meat sauce with whatever is here.

I usually make spaghetti. My kids like it as well because they think it's the kind of pasta adults eat (maybe because of the difficulty?). The spouse likes shapes for some reason. And I once worked with a woman who wouldn't eat spaghetti of any types because she said it reminded her of worms

So what's your choice?

Shapes I would say, and Fucilli is my favourite. I agree, the shapes seem to hold the sauce better

I'm a big fan of "lasagnettes" whch are sort of like rouched sheet things

After that, probably linguini.

The spouse's mom, being the great cook she is ( ), fed him 'spaghetti & juice' when he was growing up: box of spaghetti, large can of tomato juice, about a pound of butter, pepper

Theresa, you poor hubby, lucky you came along to rehabilitate his tastebuds!

My middle name is Garfield. If there is one Italian dish I absolutely adore, it's Lasagne.

To quote Garfield from one of the cartoons: "I can eat lasagne until it's dribbling out of my ears".

There's a restaurant in Liverpool that used to serve a truly rapture-inducing duck lasagne. Pieces of duck breast marinated in Cointreau and served between pasta layers in a sauce flavoured with Cointreau and Calvados. Lovely. Only thing is, I think they've stopped serving it. (sigh).

I'm voting for shapes because I mostly eat rotini and shells. I love it all though.

Glad to see I'm not the only pasta fanatic! I could eat pasta everyday!

Uggg Theresa, that sounds like the "spaghetti" we get at the office sometimes. Persians make great rice ...but not so good with the pasta dishes . Spaghetti is always with a cup or two of oil, a extra small size can of tomato paste and maybe one cut tomato, lots of ground beef and pepper....potato or pita bread is placed on the bottom of the pot (rice cooker) to turn crispy while everything cooks :%)....I posted a pic of the layer of oil left on a plate in chat once

All types. Different pasta/spaghetti are needed for the different sauces.

I don't eat as much pasta as I used to. I wish......

Italian background so pasta is very important, is at every family gathering. EVERY gathering and more than one type. Essential!

You can't eat carbs? Why not--are you allergic to starch?

One of my teachers is; he eats matza with everything. I feel for him.

Also, in case anyone didn't know, Atkins passed away clinically overweight, so whatever.

"Three cheers for carbs! Down with Atkins!"

I could not agree more! I am not on the Atkins diet (think he was an idiot), but because of my intolerance to carbs, I have to eat almost none! I miss them, but it is either be sick, or be healthy. I eat to live, I don't live to eat...
