What first got you interested in keeping fish?

Me? My dad had a fish tank when I was little and I loved to watched them. A few months back, I decided to rekindle the hobby and bought myself a 30gal. Since then I've been researching like mad and developed MTS.

bf wanted a fishtank, I let him, then he discovered there was more to it than just adding water and fish (waterchanges) so I took over.

I wanted fish so my parents got me a 55 gallon for my 11th b-day. I think they still regret getting me addicted to the hobby.:%)

I was on the way home from Florida, and saw a magazine with coffee table fish tanks. I told my mom I wanted one and she said if she would get me a tank, I would have to research it. She didn't expect me to research I'm thinking So for my 14th b-day I got a 29 gallon

Now...I have a 55 (dad bought it), 29 (b-day present), 20 gallon (free), 40 gallon w/stand, heater, filter, and driftwood (free), and a 10 gallon that I bought

All, of which, are empty atm

Bought the kids a goldfish each in a small plastic tank, died within 2 weeks, found out I did everything wrong that can be done wrong, decided to use this chance to convince the family that it is time to do it right, bought my 29G, try to do it right, will buy soon a 125G.

All happened since Feb this year.

for christmas my sis wanted a fish tank, so we both got 1, i at first i guess dident want it, but later on decided i wanted it , i set it up, had it running for a week, went to petsmart and was told i couldent have fish till i had a heater we ended up geting a heater, and then fish from walmart, i reasearched for....a long time before i got the fish, and i got 2 corys, 2 tiger barbs, and 2 mollys, i haddent found this site, or anything on an actual cycle so not long after i lost a molly, got a new one, the other one died, i had a molly who was huge fat!, and i went away for a week, and came back to her being thin (after i gave her to my sis).....long story short i now have 1 29 gallon (bought with everything for 30 bucks) 20 gallon (free) and have run through many 10 gallons and still have 1, i have many bettas, and other fish,

When I was little we had to go to my Sister's for Sunday lunch. It was only once a month but I didn't have any thing to do - I used to take one toy but that never kept me occupied for long.

Any how my sister's first Husband Ray had marine fish, in what i would now guess to be a 29G? They were beauiful, he had this blue fish with black and yellow bits and sea horses. I'd sit and watch the fish, for ages or what passes for ages when you are about five?!?

He also had a fish pond, which led to the whole Goldfish malarky. I had two two gallon Bowls - yes I was evil then! They housed my first goldfish, at age 14 I think. I know I lied to my folks and said i'd won them at a fair. They were called Des and Fern. I had des for 10 years and gave her to a pond, Fern got cancer and died(obviously they had a bigger tank eventually.) I moved on to Black moors and orandas. I hate to think what I put those fish through. truly made all the mistakes.

Eventually I found this place, moved on to tropical fish and now love my current fish very much, but not as much as my goldfish. one day I will keep them again.........

I had kept goldfish in bowls for as long as I can remember, but I got my first "real" tank (10 gallon) when I was about 11.

I was getting bad grades (and I still am ) and I wanted a ps2 for my B'day. But my parents didn't want to buy me one because of my bad grades, so instead I got a fish tank. Because I always had an interest in fish.
