I hate that frog and I curse jamster mobile.

Two things to note here.

One, Samantha Fox wasn't a pop singer. Her career path involved being photographed regularly for The Sun newspaper in the UK wearing very little clothing. Making a pop record was a sort of afterthought, motivated by the Stock/Aitken/Waterman pop machine that also brought Kylie Minogue to the UK (that first 'pop song' she performed was, quite frankly, atrocious, and had 'product' stamped all over it). Samantha Fox was simply one of several female figures spat out of the end of the Stock/Aitken/Waterman assembly line (Mel & Kim, Sabrina, Pepsi and Shirlie, the list goes on) presumably on the basis that the best way to sell records was to package disposable dreck in lots of glitter and front it with pretty female faces (and in some cases, more than a hint of visible female cleavage) and watch it climb the charts as millions of hormonal teenagers bought it.

Two. Crazy Frog is very high on my list of targets for a thermonuclear strike. The annoyance level of this creation has long since surpassed the point where Amnsety International should have declared continued exposure to it a breach of the UN Charter on Human Rights (specifically the part relating to torture), and has reached the point where ten minutes' exposure to this festering dogpile would turn St Francis of Assisi himself into a homicidal maniac hell-bent upon mass extermination. As for Jamster, well I am almost certainly not alone in wishing for its Board of Directors to be struck down by a mystery genetically engineered plague, and that is without having to endure the frequency of Jamster ads on television (I threw my TV out years ago). Those of my acquaintances who still have their TVs have told me that this monstrosity was broadcast simultaneously on all available channels in the commercial breaks three times or more in each ad space, the ads timed in such a manner that no amount of channel hopping could bring escape. This kind of psychological warfare has earned Jamster the kind of seething, visceral hatred normally reserved for perpetrators of genocide, and I for one would happily see the company directors forcibly strapped into sensory depivation chairs and forced to listen to their own demonic creation non stop for three days. Just so that they know how the rest of us have felt.

First off, there's a big difference between people who are terrible singers and people that just aren't your style of music.

For example, I hate Britney Spears' music, but her *singing* isn't horrible.

I'd have to agree with Bjork - she's talented for sure but her voice just gets to me.

And I'd have to say the worst singer I've heard in a loooong time is the guy from The 69 Eyes. Don't know who he is, but he's trying to do a Pete Steele/Type O Negative thing and it really isn't working for him.

"Divine" wasn't a musician. Divine was, if memory serves, an extremely florid transvestite with a penchant for truly gross small-budget movies, who just happened to decide one day that it would also be fun to make a truly awful pop record. And I'm not even going to bother linking anything connected to this person here because the content will be [1] R18 certificate, and [2] nauseating to behold.

As for Milli Vanilli, well they were caught lip-syncing incompetently on stage. And deserve all of the opprobrium heading their way for setting a precedent that image matters more than substance, now eagerly grasped by all manner of so-called 'bands', including quite a few of the 'product' bands spat out of whatever assembly line spawned them.

It was actually "Haircut 100". The band name originated as follows. In Dagenham (a fairly depressing UK industrial town that depended heavily on a local Ford car plant for employment) there was a run-down barber's shop, with the legend "HAIRCUT 1.00" (namely, the charge for a bog standard back and sides was £1.00) but the decimal point was extremely difficult to see except close up. So Nick Hayward and the crew thought it would be fun to call their band "Haircut 100", derived from this. Musically, they were pretty bland, but at least some of the band members could play an instrument or two. And no-one who saw their introductory video on the UK Top of the Pops programme could fault their sense of humour

Alrighty ppl! Today was an exceptionally sad day for me! my mate absolutely destroyed me! He appraoched me with hte biggest grin on his face that i have ever seen! he put one hand on my shoulder and said "aha! i have you now.....Simply Red" LOL i almost died i reefed my hat off my head and threw it to the ground in desgrace! hahahahaha.... it was hilarious! and i admitted defeat!:#(

Any 'band' that has been manufactured by a TV show or put together by a record company to milk the pockets of people with more money than sense falls into the category of outfits I despise. Sadly, the arbitrary bolting together of groups of individuals whose main contribution is to look pretty before the camera, and whose level of musical talent would probably struggle to exceed that of my late pet budgie, is becoming a kind of cancer in popular music. Hear'say anyone?

Most of these outfits will be forgotten by all except specialist collectors of atrocious music in years to come. Does anyone here remember Liquid Gold from the 1980s? Or Toto Coelo? Or for that matter the spawn of hairdressing evil that was Limahl and Kajagoogoo? The irony being, of course, that all of the aformentioned 1980's atrocities actually contained people who could play the occasional muscial instrument, and at least one person with a workable singing voice. Whereas so many of the caterwauling assemblages today are so devoid of talent that they aren't allowed outside of a recording studio lest the public discovers that without half a million pounds' worth of electronics and a battery of sound technicians to fill in the gaps, they sound plain awful.
