dirty dancing, i only hate, is b/c i never saw it, and it is always on (to me) channel 49, when i am trying to watch something else.

I agree with the Spongebob observation. Tried to watch about thirty seconds of it once, and it consisted of the sponge screaming that they should go search for the hay in the needle stack. Har. Har. Har. I think it's sad that when I went to disneyland in 2003 all I saw were kids and adults in bright yellow spongebob shirts.

Why aren't cartoons properly drawn (or written) any more? Even Disney seems to have taken to making characters more pointy (see Hercules) or curly than normal. I miss properly narrated cartoons.

Spongebob! i think it is a great mix of adult and child humor!!!!!!! you literally have to sit down and watch an episode. either you like it or you dont!

parachute pants aren't too bad...at least they are at their waists. Those big pants that were worn around the hips were really bad. All the boys around here were walking around trying to keep them from falling down.

Or like Road Runner and Whiley the Coyote, oh no – wait a minute – the coyote always dies about 100 times per episode.

Well, maybe Mickey Mouse, oh no – wait a minute – weren’t the early ones extremely racially prejudiced?


The point I am trying to make here is that cartoons are a reflection of the time when they were made (as is anything else that was mentioned so far in this thread). In not too many years from now people will reflect back to the good old days when Sponge Bob Squarepants was created and dismiss the “new” created cartoons of their time.

Back in the old days, there were not that many quality Children shows on either, first of all because there were way less channels available. I bet you that if you would count the absolute number of quality shows today you would get a higher result than way back when, for example Dora the Explorer (teaches Spanish as well), ChalkZone, Various Discovery Kids shows, Animal Planet shows, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, there are quite a few shows where I think that they are not suitable for children, but that is a whole different issue.

and parachute pants, as i remember them, were nylon cargo pants with lots of zippers in odd places.
