Minicycles happen thru lax maintence routines, or addition of fish. You may want to test your ammonia, nitrIte, and nitrAte ^_^ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Blooms are caused by poor maintenance, overcrowding and possible overfeeding. Clear it up by: 1. Cleaning your filter (careful not to kill the bio-load), 2. Daily water change of 25% for the next 4 days (if ammonia and nitrites are readable increase to 50%, 3. Vacuum substrate when you do your water change. __________ "To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." researched from Steven Wright |

If it is a bio-wheel, then you didnt really hurt anything by cleaning the filter. If it isnt a bio-wheel, then you probably did. |

Biowheels use a wheel that's never rinsed so less of the biofilter is likely to be damaged thru cleaning. It's generally a good idea to alternate filter rinses with gravel vacs. ^_^ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
