Time is the only thing that will clear it up. Minicycles happen thru lax maintence routines, or addition of fish. You may want to test your ammonia, nitrIte, and nitrAte

Congratulations! You have a bacteria bloom!

Blooms are caused by poor maintenance, overcrowding and possible overfeeding.

Clear it up by:
1. Cleaning your filter (careful not to kill the bio-load),
2. Daily water change of 25% for the next 4 days (if ammonia and nitrites are readable increase to 50%,
3. Vacuum substrate when you do your water change.

what kind of filter do you have?

If it is a bio-wheel, then you didnt really hurt anything by cleaning the filter. If it isnt a bio-wheel, then you probably did.

You've removed some of it no matter what type of filter you're using. Biowheels use a wheel that's never rinsed so less of the biofilter is likely to be damaged thru cleaning. It's generally a good idea to alternate filter rinses with gravel vacs.
