I just got my water testing kit, and this is my first test of the water. The tank is about one month old.

Ammonia: 0 ppm. The water is very yellow, without any green tint. I think it's 0 ppm or very close.
Nitrite: 2 ppm. This is pretty far down the scale. Do I need to do a water change immediately? Does this mean that I'm further into the cycling process?
Nitrate: 10 ppm.

I'm pretty new to all this, but trying very hard. I need comments and feedback. Thank you all very much

Depends what fish you have in the tank so far. If it's just hardy cycling fish like danios then leave it alone. The cycle is nearly complete and probably only has a few days or so to go. The nitrites will continue to drop on their own provided you don't damage the bacteria colonies or start increasing the bioload by overfeeding or adding more fish. If you have anything sensitive to nitrites you might want to do a water change but most fish can handle 2ppm nitrites for a few days.

No its fine to throw them in. It will actually help the bacteria by increasing the airation. The bacteria need oxygen to convert the ammonia and nitrite so increasing this will speed up the growth. Good luck on the new tank and I hope you enjoy it.

20 Gallon Long:
Aquaclear 300
2 Bolivian Rams, Mikrogeophagus altispinosus: Gumby and Pokey
