Is there such thing as a reddish algae? I have a planted tank, and there are plants that have red pigments, could this be the cause? Would algae eaters eat it?

There is a "Brown Algae"
If it is it could be the start of Brown Algae.

It is caused by Poor Lighting (incorrect or old lights) and excess Nutrients.

Apprently there are products that will remove it but I would correct the lighting, and the Nutrients problem, also several water changes.

As far as a Algae eating fish for that I will leave that for others to answer.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://
